There is a chance of minor flooding in low-lying coastal areas through Monday while a southeasterly air flow bringing tropical moisture which could cause scattered showers and thundershowers in the mountains and adjacent deserts over the next couple of days, the National Weather Service (NWS) said.

"Astronomical tides dependent on the phases of the moon could cause minor tidal overflow in low-lying coastal areas like Oceanside, La Jolla and Imperial Beach," NWS forecaster Philip Gonsalves said. "There is also a chance starting later today through tonight and into tomorrow for isolated, scattered showers and possibly thunderstorms, primarily in the mountains and deserts."

Gonsalves said there is also a possibility that showers and thundershowers could drift west of the mountains.

The weather forecaster said temporary, higher humidity weather conditions are not uncommon in July.

"We expect that this time of year," Gonsalves said.

Gonsalves said increased humidity could impact temperatures.

"The humidity and increased cloud cover could help to keep temperatures lower," he said.

Temperatures which have been in excess of 100 in the deserts and 90 in the mountains could fall in the short term by as much as 10 degrees, the NWS said.
