Issue 17, Volume 18.

SAN DIEGO – The San Diego County Medical Examiner has identified the body found on a mountain trail in the Hellhole Canyon County Preserve on April 20 as that of Samuel Holiman.

A 57 year old black male who resided in San Diego County, Holiman was found by a hiker. 9-1-1 was called and a deputy responded to the area along with park rangers. Upon arrival at the preserve, they confirmed him dead. There was no apparent injury or trauma to the body.

Time of death was listed April 19, 2014, 4 p.m. with unknown date/time of injury. Cause of death is pending with the San Diego Sheriff's Department still investigating.

VALLEY CENTER - The San Diego County Sheriff's Dept. has reported that a body was Advertisement

found on Sunday, April 20 in the Hell Hole Canyon Ecological Preserve in Valley Center. It appeared that the person had been dead for several days and appeared to have been disturbed by animals.

Authorities were working to extract the body from a trail in the remote area of the preserve.

Because deputies could not immediately reach the area by all-terrain vehicle, the A.S.T.R.E.A. helicopter responded to the area, surveyed the scene, landed, and dropped off their observer nearby. A.S.T.R.E.A. then shuttled personnel from the command post to the scene.

The Medical Examiner processed the scene and with the assistance of A.S.T.R.E.A. transported the remains from the area. The cause of death is unknown at this time and the Medical Examiner will continue the investigation.

Sad and gross! Do we really have to know about the animal part? If it was my missing family member and I read this it would make the tragedy even more disturbing... Not necessary inmho. We ca all figure out that if
Death occurs in nature, this will probably happen. Stark reminders are tmi...

@ #1 Tonya

Tonya, that's the spirit! Let us, citizens, censor the press even more. Yeah, baby. It's not enough that Uncle Sam already does it. No, let us ADD to it with Uncle Sam smiling from ear to ear. So, for example, when our troops are sent to fight a war against folks who pose NO threat to us and come home in coffins, we now hide this dirty secret behind . . . "Out of respect to the families . . ."

Yeah, baby. Anything to suppress the truth, ey, Tonya?

You stay uninformed girl; Uncle Sam likes it that way.

Lee, Lee, you are reaching way too far, Junior; almost to the point of acting out.

I find it hilarious that you lecture someone about being informed when you have no idea what your whining about half the time. You know almost nothing about the nonsense you spew here, especially about the Military, OR your fellow citizens who have given the ultimate sacrifice. Your entire existence is based on putative theory; there isn't an ounce of real experience, knowledge or practical reality that you ever bring to the table. Just a tortured, bitter, liberal, who has more Anger and shrillness in his little finger then many of us have in our entire being.

You stay class Liberal.

Any word on cause of death or why there were so far out on No Name Mountain? That's a very, very long hike through some very steep terrain.

Just curious, why was his race mentioned? I understand if it is important to the story. Or, is this a way to say: "he was not an illegal Mexcan"?

During WWII I saw a lot of dead bodies and believe me it's sad no matter what side you are on. Seldom are bodies not touched by Animals, Insects, Etc. The only way that is minimized is by dying in a Hospital.
