BONSALL - Two lucky people in a Toyota 4Runner suffered only minor injuries in a fiery rollover crash on southbound Interstate 1-15 at Gopher Canyon Road today.

The incident occurred at 1:10 p.m. several miles east of the Oceanside city limits, a CHP dispatcher said. The vehicle also had two dogs who jumped out of the vehicle as it rolled off the shoulder and down the embankment.

"The vehicle landed on its side ejecting two people and two dogs before landing on its side and being completely engulfed by flames," the dispatcher said.

The dispatcher said two people were transported to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Two dogs were running loose on the freeway following the accident and were not both recovered for two hours. One was recovered by passsersby and the other was found two hours later.

We saw the plume of dust from the crash and saw the aftermath - right after it happened. I hoped they were okay and I'm glad they were. What an awful thing to have happen on Christmas!
