FALLBROOK – The Fallbrook Historical Society extends a warm invitation to all to attend the Fallbrook Community Picnic on Sunday, June 30. The event will be held at the Historical Society Museum grounds, 1730 Hill Street, (Rocky Crest Road and Hill Street) beginning at 11 a.m.

Some 60 years ago a group of Fallbrook citizens got together during a Fallbrook High School Alumni party and decided to plan a summer "doins" at Live Oak Park. They invited all the residents of Fallbrook to their event and dubbed the get-together "The Old Timers Picnic." It turned out to be such a big hit that the custom became an annual summer event.

Through the years, the picnic has always taken place on the last Sunday of June starting with a potluck dinner at mid-day. In recent years, the Fallbrook Historical Society has taken over the sponsorship and changed the venue to the "Barn," located on the Historical Society grounds. The annual get-together is now called the Fallbrook Community Picnic.

The Historical Society encourages everyone in or out of town to come enjoy the potluck, reconnect with old friends, and enjoy touring the historical facility. The event is open to the public and free of charge. Just bring a dish to share for 8-10 people for the potluck lunch. A raffle will be held and prizes will be awarded.

All of the Historical Society’s buildings – the Pittenger House, the Museum, the Ford Room, the Rock and Mineral Room, and the Barn – will be open and docents will be on hand to guide visitors and answer questions.

Come be a part of Fallbrook’s "Old-Fashioned Community Picnic." For more information call Jack Story, (760) 728-7078.
