SAN DIEGO - A civilian employee at Camp Pendleton was sentenced today to six months in federal prison and ordered to pay restitution for stealing medical equipment and reselling the gear intended for use on injured Marines.

Michael Tuisee worked in a warehouse for the Marines 1st Medical Logistics Company, where he and two co-defendants stole costly ventilators, autoclaves, defibrillators, headlights and laryngoscopes, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.

Prosecutors said Tuisee, a 34-year-old Oceanside resident, would load the items into his personal vehicle and meet resellers of medical equipment -- often in parking lots at night -- where he would exchange them for money.

No information about the co-defendants was provided.

Tuisee, who was prosecuted on a charge of conspiracy to engage in theft of government property, was also ordered by U.S. District Judge Cathy Ann Bencivengo to pay nearly $180,000 in restitution, forfeit $8,200 or so in proceeds, and spend an additional six months under house arrest.

Immoral behavior breeds immoral behavior.

So Lee, are you saying that this man's parents must have been immoral to raise such an immoral person? Not necessarily, some people are raised well and just choose the wrong path on their own. Actually, I believe the word you really mean is "amoral", as in no conscience. If, on the other hand, you are implying that he is immoral because you believe that all military people are immoral, I'm afraid that that won't fly either. This man is a civilian, not military. In that case I guess you would be saying that all civilians are immoral? Yes?

I am gratified that on occasion the government catches slime balls and makes them pay.

In my humble opinion, it doesn't happen often enough.

I am glad they caught this guy as well. I'm still wonder what Lee was talking about with his immorality comment, but I guess we will never know, as usual when someone calls him on something the silence is deafening. Good comment Book of Revelation. I agree with you, nobody to blame but himself. He chose to steal.
