FALLBROOK – Several exercise and stretching stations are planned for Pico Promenade, a scenic walking path in the downtown area, as part of a new "physical fitness loop" proposed by the Fallbrook Beautification Alliance (FBA), in coordination with the Fallbrook Village Association.

The fitness route, which will also include sections of Mission Road, Main Avenue, Alvarado Street and other neighboring streets, will eventually include mile markers and link up to the Walkabout Web, a 30-mile proposed trail connecting pathways around Fallbrook that is planned by the Fallbrook Land Conservancy.

Fallbrook history, public art, nature and other special places in the community will also be highlighted along the route, in the hopes of attracting new users and enhancing economic development.

FBA encourages visitors to include the Pico Promenade and surrounding neighborhood in their exercise programs now. The Promenade is an easy walking path, landscaped with California native plants, that parallels a creek and extends from Fallbrook Street north to Elder Street.

"The visibility of participants along the route may encourage others to take steps to improve their general health," said Jedda Lorek, chair of the project. "Our hope is that the community at large will adopt this loop as part of their fitness program."

A name for the new route and other suggestions are welcome. (Fallbrook Physical Fitness Loop is a working title). Please email your ideas to or write to Fallbrook Beautification Alliance, P.O. Box 434 Fallbrook, CA 92088-434.
