There has been a lot of arrests for violent crimes, and grand theft. Domestic violence arrests seem to be on the rise as well. So it's interesting the Sheriff's say that crime has decreased, because it hasn't. There aren't enough deputies patrolling, they are too busy harassing pedestrians or kids riding their bikes. The Sheriff's Dept. has suppressed crime only because in the ghetto neighborhoods, residents won't bother calling the cops anymore. Why? Let's see, because the deputies treat people who live anywhere on Vine, Alturas, Ammunition, Old Stage, or Clemmens- like crud. Even the folks who report crimes, are automatically treated as adversaries by the Sheriff's dept. We get accused of lying, being intoxicated, committing a crime, or other wrongdoing. The Sheriff's Dept. should treat citizens who report crime with respect. We won't bother to call anymore because it's just not worth the bs hassle. Most of the deputies have very foul mouths and disregard the rights of citizens. People don't appreciate being cussed at or accused of wrongdoing, when they report crime to the sheriff's dept. I don't know when this new deputy entitlement/rude behavior became a prerequisite. Calling children "little f'g losers" or "future inmates" is just wrong. Using the badge to scare the heck out of juveniles, interrogating them for hours and hours without ever notifying their parents is wrong. Kids don't have the capability to endure interrogations, with no bathroom privileges, no food, and 3 or 4 huge cops playing mind games. I was in the sheriff's office a few weeks back, and heard 4 cops interrogating a young boy. He kept begging them to call his mother, because she would be frantic not knowing where he was for almost 24 hours. He asked to use the bathroom, as they hadn't let him go the entire time. No food or water either. And no phone call to notify the frantic parents. (They were busy calling area hospitals to see if he'd been admitted) It was disturbing, to say the least. There is zero oversight with the Fallbrook Sheriff's Dept. They frequently pick kids up off their front lawns, and tell them to get in the police car. They also tell them they have no rights, even less rights than an inmate, because they are minors. Kids who aren't involved in gangs, are constantly being accused or threatened by sheriff's to tell them their "street name." One sheriff's deputy even told me his goal was to document every boy between the ages of 9-18 as a gang member. Why? Oh, because it makes his job easier. Nice. I don't know why any cop would make that their life's mission. That was the dumbest comment I've ever heard. But when they get 6 months of boot camp, then work the jails- they come out all jaded. They think everybody is a criminal or a liar. Perhaps if they trained them in basic social etiquette, they would be more respected. The foul mouths, rude conduct, and downright mean behavior is most unbecoming of a sheriff's deputy. Not all people are criminals, druggies, or losers.
