RAINBOW – The program for the Daughters of Norway, Hulda Garborg Lodge #49 meeting on Saturday, April 13, at 11 a.m. will be the history of rosemaling. Member Lynne Bradley and two other painters will talk about rosemaling, Norwegian for "decorative painting," which originated in the rural valleys of Norway and uses stylized flower ornamentation, scrollwork, lining and geometic elements in flowing patterns.

It is also common in Sweden and was most popular from the latter half of the 18th century until the 1860s. Members and guests are asked to bring any rosemaled items they have to share with the group.

All women of Scandinavian heritage are welcome to attend the Daughters of Norway meetings at the Rainbow Valley Grange Hall, 2160 Rainbow Valley Blvd. Following the cultural program is pot luck lunch at noon and a business meeting at 12:45 p.m.
