Due to the popularity of the CAST Production of Annie performed by different casts from local elementary schools, an all-star group has been selected from those casts to present three additional opportunities to see this popular Broadway musical. All proceeds from these special performances will go to the Fallbrook Food Pantry.

The newly offered performances will be on Friday, March 22 at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, March 23 at 7:30 p.m.; and Sunday, March 24 at 2 p.m. at the Mission Theatre, 231 N. Main Ave.

The fact that this is offered as a fundraiser for the local food pantry was much appreciated.

"We are grateful to CAST for the generous donation and to Jennifer Hornsveld for organizing this fundraiser," said Young Milton, board member of Fallbrook Food Pantry. "Each week, Fallbrook Food Pantry helps feed over 625 low income families who live at, and often far below, poverty level. We can only do this with the help of our faithful supporters such

as CAST."

For the past five weeks, students from Fallbrook and Bonsall elementary schools have been rehearsing at their individual sites for Annie, through CAST and the After School Acting Program. A special panel chose various students from some of these local schools to participate in the all-star performance.

Actors in the cast will represent: Bonsall Elementary, Bonsall West, Fallbrook Street School, Iowa Street School, La Paloma, Live Oak, Potter Jr. High, St. Peter’s Catholic School, St. Stephen Lutheran School, Sullivan Middle School, William H. Frazier, and Zion Lutheran School.

Little Orphan Annie, a comic strip written by Harold Gray, was adapted into a musical in 1977. In the story, Annie escapes from an orphanage, "thinking about tomorrow, tomorrow," and meets Sandy the dog. Together, they explore the streets of 1930’s New York City, where eventually Annie is found and then returned to the orphanage.

A billionaire by the name of Warbucks, decided to give an orphan the opportunity to visit his mansion for the holidays, in hopes to boost his reputation. Choosing Annie, he soon becomes very emotionally attached, and wants to adopt the little girl. Upon hearing of this, Miss Hannigan, the owner of the orphanage, tries to concoct a scheme to obtain some of Warbuck’s wealth and good intentions, amidst other entertaining shenanigans that happen in the story.

Patty Hornsveld, of CAST Productions said, "Not only will the Fallbrook Food Pantry benefit from attendance to these shows, but you get to have fun and watch adorable children perform a great show about a children’s musical."
