Fallbrook art students’ work juried into CAEA show in Balboa Park

FALLBROOK – The artwork of seven Fallbrook students earned the distinction of being juried into the California Art Education Association (CAEA) Youth Art Month (YAM) Show which was on exhibit at the San Diego Art Institute (SDAI) in Balboa Park Jan. 25 through Feb. 23.

The students whose art was selected include:

Katelyn Mathewson – 1st grade – "The Lizard" – an abstract collage that won third place in the kindergarten through second grade category.

Arran Mozafarian – 4th grade – "The Fruit of Joy" – a collage that won third place in the grades 3 through 5 category.

Emily Mendoza – 3rd grade – "The Mysterious Zebra" – a brayer printing plate that won an honorable mention.

Nayeli Vasquez – 6th grade – "Howling Wolf" – a composition of tempera and black glue that won an honorable mention

This year’s exhibition included over 80 artworks from 13 public, private, parochial and charter schools in San Diego County.

On Feb. 23, the students, their families, and friends attended a reception and awards ceremony at the SDAI. All artists were presented with a certificate of excellence and students who won awards received them.

The students who placed first, second and third will have their works sent on to a five-county competition in Riverside, which will be on exhibit April 8 through 20.
