One of Fallbrook’s most popular annual events for local families will take place a bit earlier this year. The annual Pancake Breakfast and Spring Egg Hunt, held at the Fallbrook Community Center will take place on Saturday, March 23, the weekend prior to Easter.

Members of the Fallbrook Firefighters Association will take to the kitchen once again to cook up a delicious pancake breakfast from 7:30 to 10 a.m. for community members. The meal, consisting of pancakes, sausage, juice, milk and coffee is available for a donation of $5 for adults and $4 for children 12 years and younger. Proceeds benefit future events.

"The firefighters donate all the proceeds back to the Friends of the Fallbrook Community Center," said Gordon Stone, director of the community center. "John Choi has been coordinating the breakfast for the last two years and he has been very successful getting all the items donated."

Stone said the event is always well-attended.

"It’s a fun tradition to see the firefighters in the kitchen making pancakes," he said. "They are so organized and efficient and they do it all with a smile on Advertisement

their face. They are a great bunch of people."

The Spring Bunny will be on hand to meet and greet children during the breakfast and into the traditional Spring Egg Hunt.

Beginning at 10:30 a.m., the festivities will move to the field at La Paloma School, which is within walking distance of the community center.

Free events at the field will include egg hunts for a variety of age groups

"We will have four age groups – Under 5 years old, 5 to 6 years, 7 to 8 years, and 9 to 12," said Stone. The hunts will be followed by fun family games. Parents and children can participate in sack races, egg tosses, and bubble-blowing and have a chance to win gift certificates that have been donated. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

"We will be assisted by members of National Charity League for the event and also have Miss Fallbrook and her court in attendance," said Stone.

Stone said more volunteers and donations of prizes are welcome to help make the event as successful as possible. For more information, call (760) 728-1671.

"Spring Bunny"? "Spring Egg Hunt"? Are you kidding me? Is it actually illegal now to call it what it is? Easter? It's not as offensive to call it by its real name as it is to call it Spring anything. Whoever thought this is a good idea is woefully and sadly brainwashed by political correctness. Don't you realize that way more Christians are offended by renaming this to eliminate Easter from it than would be offended by calling it by its real name??! I suppose it's the correct thing to do, it's not like Christian values actually mean anything, or that Christian traditions should be protected right? I bet if it was a Muslim egg hunt, the politically correct crowd wouldn't touch it. Am I right? Some people are just more equal than others..........

Ha! Spring Bunny..! Well.I guess thats OK with me...'slong as we call this next "holiday," Irish Patron's Day....nah..still somewhat a connotation of an all powerful figurehead. .Better yet, The Emerald Island Day Parade...maybe even lean pagan cultish-left and call it "Leprechaun's Debauchery Day and Drink 'Till Ya' Puke Green Bile Day..!!" ya'gotta keep it FAITH NEUTRAL..Otherwise...yeah..we open the Gregorian calendar up to all kinda'RELIGIONs...Have a Wikken Good Winter Solstice!!!

Last commentator forgot that we Americans..run up a bar tab nearing $300MILLION during Patty's Day...think of alll the jobs and tax revenue that sustains and creates...in a country where so many..that want so much..dont really wanna' pay taxes and try their darndest to create loopholes in taxation..to favor themselves---if they can afford to INFLUENCE --such legislation!

Celebrate the designated calendar holidays the way YOUR FAITH and RELIGION ask you to. But dont force us Witchenn Nudist Stonhenge Worshipping MountainBikers to go on an Easter Egg hunt..with you....Christians! After all, it was your legendary Founding Fathers who had the wisdom to Seperate Church and State...as well as..insist on Freedom of Religion...a staunch newly revitalized principal of (usu. Hypocritical ) conservatism. Good thing in this Melting Pot of cultures called the United States, we're still (with much irony) "One Nation Under God!
I can just see Pres. O'Bama ( sic ) now on the White House Lawn with a multitude of angelic pastel dressed children holding brightly colored baskets...waiting for the 2ndAmendment Gun Rights Shooter to fire his SELF DEFENSE OPEN CARRY AR-15 into the air signalling the rush..to joyfully eagerly gather the GAYily colored and decorated Spring Poultry Embryo Birthings!!! Look children! Here comes the Spring Bunny!

That's takes the cake for the most confounded, confused, arrogant and ignorant post I've had the pleasure of reading. For one thing, the Constitution NEVER created the idea or mandated the separation of church and State! Never, no where in it does it say that. Try reading it sometime. Separation of church and State is a product of liberal lawyers trying to remove all references to religion (Christianity, specifically) from every aspect of citizens lives through frivolous court cases.
Secondly, you don't have attend any Easter egg hunt if you don't want to. It's a free country still, but you and Progtards like you don't want it to stay that way. Just because you don't agree with Christianity doesn't give you the right to remove, erase, eliminate, modify, or eradicate it from American society. The so called separation of church and State has been used improperly and in many cases unlawfully to do just such an injustice to the American way of life. You cannot, and will not ever change that. You have no right to not be offended. Be offended by religion, I dont care. But, being offended or disagreeing with another's religion gives you no right to determine what or direct how others practice theirs. Or, to try to affect thier enjoyment of religious traditions like Easter Egg hunts, Nativity Displays, Christmas Caroling, whatever it may be. I don't begrudge your religious beliefs, nor your practice of it, nor should you deride or begrudge mine.
It' becoming more socially acceptable to attack Christianity. Everyone should just accept that the true American way is you have yours, I have mine, others have theirs, and that all should practice and be allowed to express thier religious faith just the same.
Ones that claim intolerance of others are usually are the least intolerant. Fact. I'm just trying to point out how the Christian faith is being attacked by the intolerance of others using the excuse of "we can't offend anyone...they might feel "left out" or "unwanted"". And, that is utter nonsense, but it's how it's being done. That is just a tactic to destroy Christianity, just like the made up separation of church and state bullcrap. They are just tactics, a means to an end. Wy do you spew so much hate for Christians? I'm not hating on you, or anyone else, I'm just trying to protect m own faith from perceived attacks. Why should I lose my faiths traditions to appease the likes of you? Or anyone else for that matter? I shouldn't, but I am by the politically correct that are renaming them to eliminate any reference to my religion. That's an attack as far as I am concerned, and I don't believe anyone anywhere has the right to do that. It's a freedom we all have a right to in America, guaranteed by our creator in the Contitution and the Bill of Rights.
I suggest, if you don't like that we have those rights granted to us by our creator, that you find some place in your heart to accept that we believe in them, and we have a constitutionally protected right to practice it however we want. That includes your too, by the way. Live and let live, why don't ya?

By the way.....nobody is forcing you or anyone else to go on any Easter Egg hunt. How did you ever figure you were forced into anything? If you want to participate, please do, your welcome to. If you don't, that's ok too. It's up to you. Your not being forced to do anything, but at the same time, that doesn't give you or anyone else the right to take its religious reference out of the name because you don't agree with it.
And what does St. Patrick's day, the 2nd Amendment, the President, being GAY, or an AR15 have to do with any of this? You made a statement that I "forgot" that we Americans run up a 300M bar tab during St. Patrick's day? WTH? And, whats that 1%er crack about? Arrogance perhaps? Just stupid and irrelavent nonsense are what your comments are. Might you be related to Nancy Pelosi?

I remember when I was very young; the colored spring eggs we would find were actually hatched form spring fowl and were hard boiled!

And those you didn't find on Spring Ascension morning, would turn up (your nose) around Female Maternal Birth Person day!

Easter and the secular activities associated with it are Christian based; don't want to acknowledge Christ, don't participate. What will the next ramadan be called? Can't use any religious term.

I have found my way to believe in God. A long and winding journey over 60 plus years now.

But to criticize anyone who isn't there yet is counter to what Christ taught.

All you rednecks: take your sweet time on your journey. Believe or don't, whatever suits you. You are your only judge.

Peace

I don't think this is about "religion" Redneck, I think it is about the total silliness of calling it the "spring bunny". Political correctness has been taken to the level of political stupidity. What will they call Passover now? How about Ramadan? Come on, it is what it is. If some of you really believe that taking God out of everything will make Him go away, think again. He is still right here, seeing all, hearing all, knowing all. I will praise Him on EASTER Sunday for what He has done for me, then I will take my grandchildren to see the EASTER bunny and go egg hunting. I'm not criticizing anyone, believe what you want, just stop being so petty and silly about it.

Seriously Route 66, YOU are the only one commenting here who is acting like they are off their rocker and spewing whacko insensibilities out their pie hole. You are a perfect example of the silliness that Pink mentioned. Spring bunny?? That's what is funny. Has nothing to do with religious belief has to do with crazy political correctness nonsense. You can believe or disbelieve whatever you want, no one can change what is in your heart but you. Pink is also right about God still being here no matter how hard the left leaning goose steppers try to banish his name, they cannot banish Him. I also agree with redneck bill, you have to seek God in order to find him. He is right there next to you, don't have to look far, however redneck, I don't think we are our "own judge" there will be a judgement day, can't get out of that one no matter who you are. Peace.....
