A 55-year-old man lost control of the car he was driving today and ended up crashing through a bridge rail on State Route 76 and plummeting down an embankment and into a creek area.

The crash occurred about 1:55 p.m. Sunday, March 3, just east of the Gird Road intersection.

Witnesses said the man, who was driving a relatively new Chevrolet Camaro eastbound on SR 76 appeared to lose control of the vehicle, which led to the single car crash. No passengers Advertisement

were in the vehicle.

John Buchanan, public information officer with North County Fire, said it took emergency workers "about 20 minutes" to get the man out of the car and up to the roadway area.

"He was transported to a local trauma center (Palomar Hospital) with what appeared to be non-life-threatening injures," said Buchanan.

The report from the California Highway Patrol has not yet been made available. It is unknown at this time what factors may have led to the crash.
