ESCONDIDO – Assemblymember Marie Waldron, who has opened an office in Escondido, has announced she will institute an internship program for college students interested in learning about state government, public affairs and the issues facing California. Interns must be team players and self-starters and should be able to commit to working at least one semester (three to four months).

"Due to my legislative responsibilities in Sacramento, I am required to be at the Capitol Monday through Thursday of each week when the Legislature is in session; consequently, interns working in my district office will have the opportunity to represent me at various meetings and events in the district," said Waldron. "They will work in a professional environment and interact and network with business and community leaders, as well as other elected officials and their staff. Interns will also perform office duties which may include researching constituent issues, answering phones, data entry and letter writing."

"While intern positions are unpaid, a letter of recommendation from me may be earned upon completion," said Waldron. "In addition, internships often assist participants in gaining employment. Depending on course requirements, interns may also receive course credit for their internship."
