FALLBROOK – The Art of the Avocado competition, part of the annual Avocado Festival, is now open. The competition is open to anyone of any age in any artistic medium. The only restriction is that the viewer be able to "see" an avocado somewhere in the work.

New this year, two categories will be offered – two-dimensional and three-dimensional with cash prizes awarded in each. First place will pay $200; second place, $100; and third place, $50. In addition, Brandon Gallery will award a cash prize for its Brandon Gallery Director’s Award. All plaque-type awards will be handmade of fused glass art by Gayle Bamber, who, along with her husband, George, created the Art of the Avocado competition.

A panel of judges, including celebrity judge Rita Coolidge, will determine the winners.
