• Chamber to get $15,000

• Music Society to receive $14,085

The San Diego County Board of Supervisors’ appropriation of District Five Neighborhood Reinvestment Program funding Jan. 29 included $15,000 for the Fallbrook Chamber of Commerce and $14,085 to the Fallbrook Music Society.

The chamber will use its grant for the production of the Chamber Visitors Guide and other printed materials which promote events in Fallbrook. The Fallbrook Music Society’s appropriations will upgrade its box office ticket sales technology.

The Neighborhood Reinvestment Program is intended to provide grants to non-profit organizations for the furtherance of public purposes at the regional and community levels. In addition to non-profit organizations, county supervisors can also fund schools and fire departments, and supervisors can also use money from their budgets to supplement other county funding for specific county projects such as parks, roads, and libraries.  

Each county supervisor recommends the allocation of his or her Neighborhood Reinvestment Program funds, although those allocations must be approved by a majority of the board. All four of Supervisor Bill Horn’s colleagues approved his recommendation for the Jan. 29 allocations.

The Fallbrook Chamber of Commerce publications to be funded with the Neighborhood Reinvestment Program money include the "This Week in Fallbrook" flyer, the chamber’s visitors guide, the "Find Fallbrook" hiking and trails guide, and materials promoting other events throughout the year. "The Fallbrook Chamber of Commerce is always thinking of ways to draw tourism dollars into their neighborhood. Informational pamphlets and flyers announcing upcoming events are right on track with those efforts," Horn said.

The Fallbrook Music Society seeks to bring recognized classical music groups to the Fallbrook area. The society hosts eight professional symphony concerts annually including a Christmas concert and its summer Symphony Pops on the Green event. The Neighborhood Reinvestment Program grant will help upgrade the technology of the ticketing system through the purchase of new hardware and software along with setup and installation services.  "This grant for updated technology will make it so much easier for the Fallbrook Music Society to coordinate their annual symphony concerts and Pops events. I wish them a great year," Horn said.
