Sheriff's Sgt. Joe Montion, left, discusses security at Fallbrook High School with Detective Steven Askhar on Monday morning, February 11.
Nine Sheriff's Dept. officers on campus today due to anonymous threat of violence against Fallbrook High

Issue 06, Volume 17.
Nine officers from the San Diego County Sheriff's Dept. are on the campus of Fallbrook High School today (Monday, February 11) due to an anonymous threat of violence made to the school.
Lt. Todd Richardson, commander of the Fallbrook Sheriff's substation said, "The Sheriff's Fallbrook detectives have been working closely with the District Attorney's Office high technology unit and the FBI to identify the origin of the threat. At this point, we have not found any evidence to substantiate the email threat as credible."
"With that said and to provide peace of mind and for the safety and security of the students and staff at Fallbrook High School, the Sheriff's Department is providing an increased presence at the school today (Monday, February 11).
On campus, Sheriff's Sgt. Joe Montion said he had eight other sworn officers patrolling the grounds.
"I have four detectives here today along with four crime suppression deputies," said Montion.
Fallbrook Union High School District superintendent Dale Mitchell said on Friday, February 8 that the school had received an anonymous threat of violence for today.
"The threat was communicated in the form of a posting on a website," said Mitchell.
Mitchell said on Friday that there would be a presence of law enforcement on campus today as a result.
Fallbrook High principal Rod King said this morning that he expects today to be "business as usual" at the school, but did feel there would be an element of absenteeism due to the threat.
"Unfortunately these types of situations are being more and more common," said King, who validated the statement by citing the fact that about 800 students did not attend school on the last day of class before winter break in December due to a similar threat that was running rampant throughout San Diego County at schools.
Prior to the school (late) starting time this morning due to a staff development session, officers were reviewing maps of the school and discussing security in general.
"Our Sheriff's Dept. is really great to work with," said King. "They are very supportive of the students, staff and community."
King reported at 1 p.m. that 430 students did not attend school today.
"Only 21 calls received mentioned the threat as the reason they would not be attending," he said. "On any given day we may have 120 to 300 out."
Editor's Note: Some individuals said they thought an arrest had been made at the school this morning. The Sheriff's Dept. has confirmed that a juvenile was taken into custody, but it did not relate to the threats. The matter involved possession of tobacco and truancy.
Fallbrook High School receives threat of violence to occur on campus Mon., Feb. 11; Sheriff's Dept. assisting
Fallbrook High School superintendent Dale Mitchell released a statement this afternoon that the school has received an anonymous threat of violence to occur on Monday, February 11.
"The threat was communicated in the form of a posting on a website," said Mitchell.
Mitchell said the school district has involved the San Diego County Sheriff's Dept. in the investigation.
"In order to support the safety of our students and staff on Monday, February 11, there will be law enforcement presence in addition to the increased visibility of staff."

aint nothing going to happen if something was going to happen they will just do it and not say when and were
Comment #2 | Friday, Feb 8, 2013 at 5:59 pm
What in the .... has happened to this school? It's no coincidence that when they built that fence around the school it's been nothing but trouble.
Comment #3 | Friday, Feb 8, 2013 at 9:56 pm
lack of respect, or no respect, for each other
Comment #4 | Friday, Feb 8, 2013 at 10:14 pm
it was trouble a long time before that

Read between the lines here. Anonymous - posting on a website. Just some kid thinking talking smack and thinking they can't be traced. Probably nothing to this, but schools can't ignore this stuff.

Please just clean up the school, and get all the dumb gang members out. Parents that let kids wear
Pants below the a... And girls with hardly anything on should all go to parent classes on how to raise a child. This is just another fake threat from some kid who needs attention.
Comment #7 | Saturday, Feb 9, 2013 at 10:24 am
Its a shame, Everything should be able to be traced there is a law against threats. Where does all the anger come from in this world? I have worked with troubled teens and adults who have committed crimes I ask the questions that not many would. I wonder how many parents will be at the high school Monday? I can honestly say none. When do we as a community step up?
Comment #8 | Saturday, Feb 9, 2013 at 10:56 am
We moved to Fallbrook over 10 years ago because we wanted our kids to experience growing up in a small town and all that that implies. There are still some advantages to that but sadly, safety in our schools is not one of them. We can't blame administrators, law enforcement or fences. I agree with "simple answer" above and blame parents who no longer feel they need to teach respect to their children because they have none themselves.

Parenting, I feel there is a LARGE number of parents that fail to interact with there kids and ignore the obvious. Letting your kid sit in front of the TV playing his or her XBox till the sun comes up is not parenting. And my favorite is watching these zombies walk down the street glued to their phones, watch next time you go out to dinner and see a family sitting there, just observe. There is no interaction, there is no conversation, these kids and yes sometimes their parents are just glued to that phone. Once again not parenting, not interacting. I guess it's true what they say ignorance is BLISS!

Parent your children well so the "State" doesn't have to.
DON'T LET IT GET TO THE NEXT LEVEL!
Comment #13 | Sunday, Feb 10, 2013 at 9:03 am
Yes I agree dont we have dress codes at school? I truly think all uniforms would take away from the trash some of the students wear. and put more focus on learning. Why dont some parents put there cell phones down and start paying attention to there own kids! its so scary the kids who do focus on education and dress well are the kids who get bullied!!! Thats another reason I started my group.

look ppl it was just kid posting on a super secret website linked to that hacker group anonymous. he was just trolling to get a rise out of the members. I was there and saw the thread and reported it just in case. he was posting anonymously as we all do... but I do believe they got his ip. so im pretty sure he wasnt being serious but you cant just dismiss it either cuz its happened before. I found this page cuz one anonymous member posted it to proove the fbi and leos are on the case. so in this instance I support the feds in trying to make sure this never happens.

Its funny how right away parents start pointing fingers and,it, always comes down to "gangsters" being the bad ones but if,you, were to spend a day, even, a week there you would, see that thats not true, and, what, does thd dressing has to do with, this threat? Parents are so judgemental now a days, " never judge,a book by its cover." So also meaning, "dont judge a student by the way they dress" I learned that during the, time I was a student.

Comment #18 | Sunday, Feb 10, 2013 at 4:35 pm
Nothing is going to happen they are just trying to get people scared this happened the last time and nothing happened so people don't be alarmed just stay calm ... and these so called gangsters are not going to do anything there just in there own little world backing something up that doesn't belong to them
Comment #19 | Sunday, Feb 10, 2013 at 5:38 pm
Is this associated with the Poway boy arrested for threatening his H.S.?
|whats the MO of school killers?|
Comment #20 | Sunday, Feb 10, 2013 at 8:46 pm
why does it have to be a gang member? Not a single shooting incident at school has involved a gang member. Is there a child at school on psychotropic drugs... I know there are several, that is the MO a child who does not socialize well who is on xanyx, wellbulterin, prozac or any of these drugs. I can think of a couple and I don't know that many kids at the school.
Comment #21 | Sunday, Feb 10, 2013 at 9:33 pm
I don't know? Better safe than sorry! If this is the second time they make this kind of threat, well... then maybe we need to listen?

I've read all the comments and must agree with both #3 & #10. Children now of days do not have boundaries and do not understand that no is no. This child is possibly lacking a family unit. So my question is do we send our children to school tomorrow or do we say "stay home"? How about they stay home and we as parents unite and go to school for our children and see if its safe to send them? Work is work our children are our future.

Looks to me like these school shootings and pranks are mostly caused by white boys who have either had their butts wiped with chocolate their whole life, or they've been ignored. Either way, they can't handle the real world and they lash out.

The h.s. was not the scchool that was threatened. This is getting ridiculous
people.need to start getting punished. Wrong doesn't care about color of skin.
Our kids need to stop worrying about the saftey of getting hurt at school.

I agree 100% with you #10 Lazzboy. I see it all the time it makes me wonder why do some people have KIDS when all they need is there CELL PHONE. Parents dont worry if you think your kids are not lisioning to you worry what you are showing them!!!

Most are good kids & some are great kids. My eldest is a senior at FHS. The weekend before last, he & several of his friends spent the weekend at City of Refuge, feeding the homeless in San Diego. Do not judge all by the actions of a bad few!

So looking back in history, how many actual school shootings were preceded by a warning on the internet?
Comment #32 | Monday, Feb 11, 2013 at 8:28 pm
No way my kids will go to FHS!!! It's is just another example of why Fallbrook parents like me send their kids out of town for school. This town is headed downhill. In 5-10 years the beautiful, friendly Fallbrook we all love won't exist anymore, the creeping menace will have taken over. Good luck to those who choose to stay....
Comment #33 | Monday, Feb 11, 2013 at 8:44 pm
The police at school didn't do anything....they were all together... they were only talking....
Comment #34 | Tuesday, Feb 12, 2013 at 3:48 pm
This is not the fault of a Town,
It is not the fault of a School,
The blame lies with "We the People"
We have given up on effectively discipline our children.
We have greatly diminished the right of the school to discipline our children.
If you want to stop this kind of nonsense you need to change the way you vote and get back to the basics.
I am not advocating abuse just some good old strict parenting for those that need it.
Comment #35 | Tuesday, Feb 12, 2013 at 7:33 pm
Ditto to #10!! I watch parents with their kids and cannot believe the lack of involvement...no talking, or if there is I see rudeness and both are cell phone hypnotized. 30 years ago HS was #1 in COUNTRY..not kidding..we moved here for the high school and loved it..Had to move from Fallbrook recently because it is too dangerous..beautiful and many loving people, but too dangerous.
I spoke with a CHP a few months ago and he got transferred from LA to Temecula...said they tried to get him to work Fallbrook area and he said no..he worked the gang area in LA and said it would be the same..REFUSED to work there, said I got out just in time!!

This threat was most likely NOT made by a Fallbrook High student. It was posted anonymously on an obscure website with no specific person(s) mentioned/targeted. It could have been posted by anyone and could have been posted about ANY school. Just so happened it was Fallbrook. So, please do not disparage Fallbrook High School for the unfortunate acts of idiots such as this who could live anywhere. Threats such as this can happen to any school and will probably become more prevalent. Look at Poway - that threat was actually made by a student and targeted specific people. Is Poway a "safer" community than Fallbrook...are Poway schools any "safer" than Fallbrook High School? Please think before you post.
