He met his future wife, Ethel Gewlas, while stationed at the Boston Navy Yard. They married, and were shortly relocated to the San Diego area where they remained, raising two children. He is survived by his wife and children, five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Interment will be Monday, Feb. 11 at Rosecrans National Cemetery followed by a life celebration for family members.
