Dorothy (Dottie) ParkerThursday, January 24th, 2013 Issue 04, Volume 17.
She married Harry C. Parker and they and her three children (LuAnn, Elizabeth "Buffie," and Donald "Chip") all moved to Fallbrook in July 1964. She was involved and helped bring many charitable organizations to the area: Children’s Home Society, founder and first president of Fallbrook Angel Society (Angel Shop), National Charity League founding member, PEO Chapter WM Fallbrook founding member, Arts in the Park and a Channel 10 Leadership Award recipient. Dottie passed the evening of Jan. 19, 2013 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. A small service was held at Zion Lutheran Church on Jan. 23 for family and a few close friends. She is survived by her three children and grandson Derek. She will be remembered for her deep blue eyes, her infectious smile, her artistic talents and contributions to the community. She will be missed by her family and loved by all. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association San Diego Chapter. 5 comments
RIP and my condolences to any surviving family members and friends.
Dottie, Harry and family were clients and friends of mine since soon after I arrived in Fallbrook in 1989. She was one of the nicest and most upbeat people I have ever had the privilege to meet. She kept a beautiful house, cared deeply about her children, was an outstanding artist and still managed to give so much to our community. My condolences go to her family. I am certain she is now with Harry, smiling and laughing and keeping very busy.
Dottie, Harry, LuAnn, Chip & Buffy were like family to me as I spent many a day at their house and riding their horses. My condolences to the family. Some of my most special memories are still of my time with all of you.
My condolences to the family. I still have some toll painted pieces mom and I bought when visiting Dottie. My black and white chicken graces my kitchen to this very day.
LuAnn & Buffy - I'm sorry to hear of your mom's passing. I lost my mom last August, and the pain is still there. I hope you all are doing the best you can through all of this, and I am available anytime if you need someone to listen who cares. Tom - packer@mt.net |
