Fourth graders in the FPUD service area were invited to enter a contest to color the best and brightest water-conservation posters. About 250 participated and a judging panel chose 13 submissions to be featured in the calendar, plus a front cover picture. Their colorful images vividly depict the contest’s theme. The annual contest is open only to FPUD fourth graders since they have learned about water conservation and the water cycle in school at that point. The contest objective Advertisement All 13 pupils were recognized at an FPUD board meeting last year. The top three were announced at that meeting and, in addition to having their artwork featured in the calendar, they were presented with a t-shirt with their artwork printed on it. The first place winner was Will Holston of Zion Lutheran School; second and third place winners, respectively, were Samantha Montes and Jacqueline Alvarez of La Paloma Elementary School. Supplies are limited. One free calendar per family will be given out until the calendars are gone.
