Classic movie made a point

Issue 03, Volume 17.

Recently, I re-watched a classic movie about an idealistic utopian society in which there was little to no gun violence among the people. Only the army and police carried firearms.

The name of the movie… Schindler’s List.

The "Dictator" has emerged.... and the pre-re-election lies are day after day becoming clear as a bell. Thank you to everyone who voted Herr Obama back into office. Do you have a sick feeling in the pit of your stomach yet? You should.

Agree with Mr Reiss and comment #1..You dont read or hear about the situations where ARMED guards have stopped school violence..ARM THE GUARDS!!! Its like the Embassy ordeal..they asked for more ARMS and were denied..and look what the outcome is..are we so blind that we are heading towards the koolaid??Cmon America..wake up!!! Obamas kids have armed guards watching them..Obama has ARMED guards watching him..Michelle Obama has armed guards watching her..Obamas Mama has armed guards watching her..but its NOT OK for our schools to have armed guards?? .. banks have armed guards..but not schools?? Obama sits and sips his Mai Tai and relaxes while ARMED guards watch over him during his vacation..but not for our children in school?? wow....

As a person who had in-laws who were holocaust victims, I recently heard this push back on the lie that if only the ghettos were armed:

The combined French, Polish, English, and Russian armies, with their tanks, planes, cannons, and millions of troops couldn't stop Hitler, until we joined in the fight, years after it started.

What difference could a few thousand, or hundreds of thousands, of rifles and pistols in the ghettos could have possibly stopped Hitler?

And please, stop using the Hitler analogy to compare Obama to. He's not even a liberal, but much more a centrist (one way you can tell is that he didn't take down the biggest banks, Wall Street is fine, he opted for helping the insurance companies instead of universal health coverage through Medicare (which would be the most cost effective for all Americans), and is still going after pot dispensaries here in California.

You guys need to recalibrate your scale of liberal to conservative. We haven't had a liberal president since FDR. All the rest were center-left or just plain center. Can't say we've had a real conservative either, including Reagan. They're all too Wall Street friendly for my taste.

BTW, Reagan, GHW Bush, and GWB all supported an assault weapons ban - it's nothing new, makes sense, and doesn't imply anyone is coming after your guns - so just calm down. Thanks...

Loud obnoxious republican haters you spouted your hate and discontent before the election and lost because people can see the truth even through the lies your party told. You blame everything on our president and your hate for what you don't understand. Please move back to Texas and Georgia where you will be embraced by the rest of your clan. Or put your wonderful much needed guns in your mouth and end your Obama induced misery.
So sick of your hate every week in this paper.

Gosh "just a dirty old hippie" sounds like you have enough hate in your soul for everyone. What do you see in the mirror? Take a deep breath and try and get rid of some of that anger. It isn't pretty. It makes me feel sad.

Has anyone else noticed that when the right wingers get slammed for how they are, (comment 4) they do not take note, nor do they indulge in any sort of introspection, they just turn around and accuse the accuser of the same thing, as if that's supposed to mean something (comment 5 & 6) ... Yikes !!

As far as Obama is concerned, when his term comes to an end, he will probably come out just like many other ex-presidents and others in high places and tell of the existence of a shadow government and it must be true. It doesn't seem to matter who gets elected, nothing seems to change much, our foreign policies never change, insurance companies are still in the health game no matter how unproductive that is in reality and big oil is still polluting like never before while wars of aggression are now planned for spans of 20 years or more ..

"Since I entered politics, I have chiefly had men's views confided to me privately. Some of the biggest men in the United States, in the field of commerce and manufacture, are afraid of somebody, are afraid of something. They know that there is a power somewhere so organized, so subtle, so watchful, so interlocked, so complete, so pervasive, that they had better not speak above their breath when they speak in condemnation of it" —Woodrow Wilson, Signed the Federal Reserve Act of 1913. (and then hated himself for it)

"The real menace of our Republic is the invisible government which like a giant octopus sprawls its slimy legs over our cities, states and nation." — Mayor (1918-1925) John F. Hylan of New York.

"I am concerned for the security of our great nation; not so much because of any threat from without, but because of the insidious forces working from within." — General MacArthur

“I see in the near future a crisis approaching that unnerves me and causes me to tremble for the safety of my country. Corporations have been enthroned, an era of corruption in high places will follow, and the money-power of the country will endeavor to prolong it’s reign by working upon the prejudices of the people until the wealth is aggregated in a few hands and the Republic is destroyed.” - President Abraham Lincoln
