A U.S. Marine Corps veteran, he was awarded the Purple Heart medal during his service in the South Pacific in World War II. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Dorothy Zenovic. He is also survived by son Stephen and daughter-in-law Nina, son Jeffrey and daughter-in-law Cindy, and three grandchildren: Sara, Tracy and Zach, and Zach’s wife, Katie. A memorial service was held on Monday, December 31 at 11 a.m. at Berry Bell and Hall Mortuary in Fallbrook, with Pastor David Plank presiding. At a later date, his remains will be placed at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in San Diego.
