FALLBROOK - Stormy weather conditions are likely to continue today, Sun., Dec. 30 until sometime after 10 p.m. tonight, weather experts say.

A hail storm affected many parts of the Fallbrook area in the early afternoon.

The thunderstorms and lightning strikes have taken place due to an unstable air mass passing through San Diego County.

"These lightning strikes are left over from a cold, unstable air mass aloft," National Weather Service forecaster James Thomas said.

Thomas said lighting strikes first appeared in the county over the ocean in the Pt. Loma Advertisement

[ Metalography ] area at 10:45 a.m. Other strikes were reported about noon near Cabrillo National Monument, and at 12:18 p.m. in rural East County in Jamul and Alpine.

Thomas said hail typically occurs in cold, unstable weather conditions.

The forecaster said rain showers and thundershowers were expected to continue into the evening in the county.

"The showers will probably wane after 10 p.m.," Thomas said.

Thomas said weather will clear tomorrow, Mon., Dec. 31, with partly cloudy skies. Highs were expected to be chilly, with a maximum of about 60 degrees predicted at Lindbergh Field.
