In a tri-meet runners from all three schools compete in the same race and each team is scored against each other team. Fallbrook’s 23-35 loss to El Camino and 18-44 defeat against La Costa Canyon gave the Warriors a final 0-5 dual meet record for the 2012 season. "Very disappointed," Fallbrook head coach Marco Arias said of the winless season. "It’s not acceptable to the runners or to myself." The Warriors’ final home meet of the year was an 18-42 loss Oct. 24 against Carlsbad. In his final home race at the high school level Fallbrook senior Connor Froboese placed third overall to make him the Warriors’ top finisher against Carlsbad. Fallbrook’s second finisher against the Lancers, sophomore Elijah Roque, was sixth. Team scores are obtained by adding the positions of a team’s top five finishers; a school’s sixth and seventh runners are not scored but can add positions to an opponent’s score by finishing ahead of at least one of the top five runners of the other school. Froboese was Fallbrook’s first finisher Nov. 1, posting a time of 15:54 on the 5,000-meter (3.1-mile) course and placing third overall. Roque’s time of 16:34 placed tenth overall in the tri-meet. "We put two in the top ten, which is good but still not where we want to be," Arias said. Alex Mendoza had a time of 17:13; senior Joe Calescibetta closed out his dual meet career with a 17:37 performance; Luis Montes took 17:45; Gustavo Tarango finished in 17:55, and Alex Contreras raced for 17:59. Fallbrook has three seniors on the team, including first-year runner Brian Person. Person had a time of 18:28 in the tri-meet. 0 comments Be the first to share your opinion on this article! |
