Event organizers have announced the winners of the Scarecrow Days contest held during the month of October in Fallbrook. Based on votes cast by members of the community and visitors, the first place "People’s Choice" award was presented to Salon One for their staff’s design of "Edward Scissorhands." Second place went to the Village News for "Hedda Lines" and third place to the Grand Tradition Estate for "Fred and Frank Fallbrook."

Robyn McHone, owner of Salon One, said she was not only pleased with the award, but credited the staff and salon’s clients for the success.

"We want to thank everyone for the support, compliments, picture taking, popularity and votes that helped Edward Scissorhands Scarecrow succeed in the competition," said McHone.

When Scarecrow Days was first being publicized, McHone said the buzz started at the salon.

"We immediately began brainstorming for the perfect scarecrow idea for our salon," she said. "After coming up with the idea of a scarecrow that resembled Edward Scissorhands styling an additional willing Advertisement

female scarecrow, stylist Sheila Henderson and family jumped in to construct our salon scarecrow and worked extremely hard to achieve the perfect look for him and her. With the help of the Hendersons’ crafty work, and all of us here at the salon, it finally came together."

Over 100 whimsical and unique scarecrows were crafted by businesses, individuals and volunteers for Fallbrook’s inaugural Scarecrow Days.

"Creativity was the key word for the event and to encourage this, organizers initiated a People’s Choice trophy for the most imaginative scarecrow," said Greg MacDonald. "Planning is already beginning for the second annual Scarecrow Days which, building on the first year’s success, promises to become a big attraction to Fallbrook each fall."

The team at Salon One said they are looking forward to more community fun.

"We had a blast and look forward to participating in other events that help build a strong Fallbrook community," said McHone.

Salon One, a fashion forward beauty spot, opened in January 2011 and is located at 128 N. Main Ave.

There were so many good looking scarecrows, I think all of them should be the winners. It was great to see the town come together for something, and I want to thank the Chamber for bringing the town together. Thank you!! Thank you to ALL of the people who participated.
