Translate this page Reche Rd. remains closed at Live Oak Park due to SDG&E work after accident; traffic impact significantWednesday, November 7th, 2012 Issue 45, Volume 16.
The accident, which occurred today (Wed., Nov. 7) at approximately 2:15 a.m., involved a single vehicle, which veered off Reche Road just west of Gird, left the roadway and struck a power pole. "When the vehicle struck the power pole, it caught on fire," said Officer Marie Thornton of the California Highway Patrol. "Power had to be cut in the area immediately as a result of the accident." The vehicle, a 2006 Toyota Corolla was being driven by 26-year-old Juan Carlos Ixta of Fallbrook, when the accident occurred. "It has been determined that there was no involvement or alcohol or other substance with the driver; the vehicle left the roadway as a result of an unsafe turning movement," said Thornton. Thornton said no injuries were reported on the part of the driver, but the property damage at the scene "caused a big mess." Power was restored to the area within a few hours, but the roadway has remained closed with crews in the area. Despite numerous calls to San Diego Gas & Electric, the utility company has not responded to inquiries regarding how long the roadway may continue to be closed. Significant backup of traffic has been occurring on Live Oak Park Road, East Mission Road, Advertisement

(previous story) Reche Rd. remains closed at Live Oak Park Rd. due to SDG&E repairs after accident
FALLBROOK - While power has been restored to most of the area affected, Reche Road remains closed at Live Oak Park Road on the west end and Gird Road on the east end, due to SDG&E work continuing in the area. As of 1:48 p.m. today, Wed., Nov. 7, SDG&E crews said they had "a lot of work still to do." No time estimate was provided on when the roadway would be reopened in the area.
(previous update)
According to SDG&E, power appears to have been fully restored as of 9:23 am. The reason for the road closure at Reche and Live Oak appears to be for repairs to SDGE lines in the aftermath of a power outage in these areas: Fallbrook,Live Oak Park/ Winterwarm/ San Luis Rey Heights, NE Fallbrook, Pala Mesa Resort/ Pala Mesa Village/ Bonsall, according the the SDGE website. The outage started at 2:19 am and appears some residents have their power back as of 6:35 am. All customers are expected to have their power back as of 8:37 am. 910 customers were affected and the cause has not yet been determined.
SDG&E has Reche Rd. closed to through traffic at Live Oak Park Rd., as of 6:21 am. A non-injury traffic accident, which apparently is not the reason for the closure has happened in the same area. More info to come. 16 comments
Thanks you Village News for the info! :)
If the outage was for repairs, it should have been planned and they could have done the automatic phone notification. Didn't happen. Two in the morning is an awful time to begin. Thank, Village News, for updating us.
I heard a car hit a power pole which cut off the power to a lot of people
Mimi, I think the repairs weren't scheduled. I think they just happened as a result of the outage, which is still under investigation and they haven't determined the cause yet, or they haven't released the cause yet. My guess is that's why they've changed the estimated finish time three times already this morning. Now they don't plan on having everyone back online until 6 pm.
There was a car that hit a pole, which caused the outage, which in turn caused a fire.
it was a car fire at 2:30 am this morning I just read that on the chp site
It was a traffic accident a car had hit the pole and was on fire according to chp website at 5;30 am
I talked to a SDGE worker at one of the blocked off areas and he told me a fatal accident at 2 AM was a result of the closure. He was either being dishonest or something. He told me a car hit a power line and a person died. I can't believe he would say something so terrible. I think I will have to give SDGE a call. thanks
Does anyone know if or when the road will open?
Would be great to know. Also helpful for heading into to town very early in the am. If road will be open. ?? Thursday am.
Sdg&e is having a BBQ at the park they have had the road closed almost 24 hours I have never seen it take so long to put a power pole back up maybe 4 or 5 hours but this long is crazy also poor signage for the road closure
If someone was hurt and a pole is down, it will take as long as it takes to fix, AFTER the police do what they must do. I pray no one was killed. ( *Funinsd #11.You sound selfish & self involved, it could have been your child or friend wrapped around that pole, hurt with people driving by saying hurry up and bleed we have things to do.) Wow, your mother must be so proud of the the person she raised.
Thanks Brookie, it wouldn't be a Village News article without at least one ignorant racist comment. STAFF: We deleted Brookie's comment
Thank you Fallbrook res. Comment#13: I totally agree. What is wrong with people? They have no compassion.
