VALLEY CENTER - A 27-year-old woman was killed in a fiery rollover crash near Valley Center, California Highway Patrol officers said today.

She was driving a Nissan Versa east on Vesper Road west of Mactan Road at an unknown speed about 11:10 p.m. Friday when she lost control, according to CHP Officer Jim Bettencourt. She was wearing a seatbelt, he said.

The vehicle veered off the roadway, struck a tree and rolled several times before it caught fire, Bettencourt said.

The driver died at the scene, he said. Her name was not immediately released.

Bettencourt said it was unknown of drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash, which remained under investigation.
