Are we safer than we were four years ago?

The question, "Are we better off than we were four years ago?" is a ridiculously easy one to answer. Of course we aren’t. The economy is on critical, full life support.

The more pressing question that Americans should be asking themselves is, "Are we safer than we were four years ago?"

With the recent attack on our embassy in Libya due to fumbled security responses under President Obama, and his publicly stated plan to make deeper, more substantial cuts to the U.S. military, the American people may not have to worry whether they were "better off" or not during those four years.

If Obama is re-elected, a safe existence may be impossible to sustain in this country, making reflecting on the past or planning for the future a moot point.

My mind was made up when I saw this President Apologize, AGAIN, to people who had just MURDERED 6 more American Servicemen, in cold blood.

@Harry Cooper-If the economy is on" critical, full life support" there seems to be a lot more families buying homes right now (according to another article on this website).

The fact is we're still not where we should be but decidedly moving in a positive direction under this administration. The housing sector (always one of the first to start to rebound after a recession-depression) is improving and the unemployment figures are going down. The GOP created this mess. The Dems are pulling us out.

There is Monumental incompetence on the part of the obama administration, and their Keystone Cops regarding this debacle in Libya & is either profound incompetence, or ignorance, neither of which is acceptable. Furthering the insult to our collective intelligence has been the absurd blame game and the refusal of this administration to accept a shred of responsibility for the events on September 11, 2012. Nor is that acceptable.

@ Dave .. Love to hear what you would do, having not been there and getting conflicting information, but that's not what this is all about isn't it. It's all about trying to Pigeonhole Obama as a mess up. The White House's muddled explanation is one thing, but what are the facts? The New York Times report from the scene of the attack (9/13/12) stressed that the attackers themselves stated they were retaliating for the anti-Muslim video, which is basically what the White House had been saying:

Fighters involved in the assault, which was spearheaded by a Islamist brigade formed during last year's uprising against Col. Moammar Gadhafi, said in interviews during the battle that they were moved to attack the mission by anger over a 14-minute, American-made video that depicted the Prophet Muhammad, Islam's founder, as a villainous, homosexual and child-molesting buffoon. Their attack followed by just a few hours the storming of the compound surrounding the United States Embassy in Cairo by an unarmed mob protesting the same video. On Wednesday, new crowds of protesters gathered outside the United States Embassies in Tunis and Cairo.

The Times also reported:
Interviewed at the scene on Tuesday night, many attackers and those who backed them said they were determined to defend their faith from the video's insults. Some recalled an earlier episode when protesters in Benghazi had burned down the Italian consulate after an Italian minister had worn a T-shirt emblazoned with cartoons mocking the Prophet Muhammad.

Of course there are those who will want everyone to think it was Al-Qaeda sympathizing terrorists, they would never pass up a chance to keep the Sheeple in fear and the terrorist myth alive in their minds. The report that Al-Qaeda was involved was from anonymous intelligence officials, and that piece of information was immediately picked up by the right who have been on a tangent ever since, and today they insist that it's true

The little man in my belly told me it was Israeli Mossad who instigated the incident, he said the dead giveaway was the 9/11 date ... the beginning of the first wave of the terrorist garbage, that replaced the communism garbage that evaporated when Russia collapsed. But no matter there are still some fearful folks who gobble up that sort of thing...

The term terrorist is an empty distinction for any person or group that chooses to challenge the establishment, or fight for their rights and property.
al Qaeda was the name of a computer database of the US supported Mujahedin in the 1980's.

The "Blame the attack on the video" spiel, lies outside the range of plausible spin, even by the Oblamo administration standards, and any one who believes it —are simply delusional. Documents released from the Ambassador himself making numerous and repeated requests for more security were all ignored by Obama. The embassy, consulate, the Ambassador, and his staff were all that was left in Libya. And, help was denied. Obama was so busy focusing on campaigning nothing else mattered. Man, he flew to Vegas the next day for a fund raiser after they were killed!! Israeli Mossad?? Med Much? Next thing you'll be carping up about Bush or Cheney or Rumsfeld was behind it.

I can't think of one thing Obama has EVER taken any responsibility for, except for Osama! That's the bottom line. It's time to move on from this failed Empty Suit.

The "Blame the attack on the video" spiel, lies outside the range of plausible spin, ???

(You can always tell a hater by the words they choose)

The New York Times report from the "SCENE" of the attack (9/13/12) stressed that the attackers themselves stated they were RETALIATING for the ANTI-MUSLIM VIDEO, which is basically what the White House had been saying.

If you find that too hard to believe, you should take it up with the New York Times, a conservative publication. And by the way, it was the rethuglicans who decided to trim down the security because it was too costly and it wasn't just that embassy.

Get Real, you should really learn to Google and then maybe you can "Get Real"
Alert.. Alert... The following was copied and pasted
During a hearing this week before the House Committee on Oversight and Government, former regional security officer Eric A. Nordstrom and Army Special Forces security team commander Lt. Col. Andrew Wood testified numerous requests were made to beef up security in Libya but the requests were denied.
Carney said the requests went to security experts at the State Department, NOT the White House, also noting administration budget requests to beef up spending for diplomatic security were STRIPPED BY REPUBLICANS.
"There was no actionable intelligence regarding the Benghazi facility [before the attack]," Carney said. "I understand an effort here to politicize this, to turn this into an issue in the campaign."

"It's time to move on from this failed Empty Suit." ??

Oh ! And I wonder how much planning goes into every trip the President makes ? hmm .. Tons of planning..
It is a terrible shame what happened at the embassy but to try to use it for political reasons is also a shame..

All ideologies are idiotic, whether religious or political, for it is conceptual thinking, the conceptual word, which has so unfortunately divided man. J. Krishnamurti

J.H. Cooper,

I personally studied under Barrak Barry Sotero Hussien Obama. I actually have a degree in political science. I can tell you we are MOST certainly safer than we were 4 years ago because we don't have a cowboy who thinks God tells him to go invade country's at random. Even if he is black. (I know you rednecks hate that fact.)

So J. H. Cooper as you were,

Be it nothing to you I'm certain, but I had command at sea.

Some of us are forced by circumstance to make decisions. Sitting in the bleachers is a beneficial spot, until the decision comes to YOU. I'm certain you would have made the correct decision because you have been critical of our current leadershio. Could you actually make decisions impacting the free world?

I'm not talking about just being black, but making decisions that the world interprets. Are you that on top of those things?

God bless your right to free speech man.

I can tell you from experience, it's all good until YOU have to make decisions.
