Warrior defense excels in football lossTuesday, October 9th, 2012 Issue 41, Volume 16.
"The defense played well," Silvey said. "I’ve seen a lot of improvement on that side over the course of the season, and they put us in a position to win the game." San Pasqual’s 8-6 win at Fallbrook’s field saw the Golden Eagles score their second-quarter touchdown after an interception return to Fallbrook’s one-yard-line. "They punched it in from there," Silvey said. The Golden Eagles were successful on a two-point conversion, and the score remained 8-0 until the fourth quarter when Fallbrook’s Chet Curtis recovered a fumble and returned it 20 yards for a touchdown. The Warriors’ two-point conversion attempt was unsuccessful. "I think it’s pretty disappointing," Silvey said of the close loss. "We’re certainly proud of the effort of our players," Silvey said. "We’re certainly very frustrated that we didn’t get the result we wanted." During the first half Fallbrook’s offense advanced the ball to San Pasqual’s one-yard-line. "We weren’t able to score, but we did move the ball," Silvey said. In addition to Curtis, Silvey noted the defensive action of cornerback Keegan LeBanz. "He’s just done a very good job defending the pass all year and did so again," Silvey said. "They all played pretty well," Silvey said of his defense. "Austin Wolff and Tyrone Dixon did a good job at linebacker." The loss gave Fallbrook an overall season record of 0-6 along with the 0-1 league statistic.
