Re: “Entitlement mentality 7.0” [Letter, Village News, 9/27/12]

Thursday, October 4th, 2012
Issue 40, Volume 16.

Apparently Lee Racey forgot to read his letter (September 27) before submitting it. Specifically, the President of the United States is not the head of the Democratic Party: Antonio Villaraigosa is. Neither President Obama nor Villaraigosa is a socialist, but both are progressive (which I prefer) rather than being regressive.

Racey opines that Greg Millard should do some research to avoid becoming a "dupe." Racey should have taken his own advice and do some research before labeling President Obama a socialist. Earlier, Rick Perry had called President Obama a socialist, earning a "pants on fire" award from PolitiFact. Google: "PolitiFact: Rick Perry says Barack Obama is a socialist"

Still, Racey wants Millard to help return to power the party that got us Advertisement

into the mess we’re in. And then there’s Romney and Ryan who say they want to talk about jobs and the economy – apparently that’s all they want to do: talk. What the GOP Platform reveals is that their time would be spent primarily in attempting to enact their religious beliefs into law.

The rest of their time would be spent legislating further tax cuts for the wealthy and funding more pork for the already bloated military-industrial complex, to be financed by gutting all social programs. Note that Ryan espouses supply-side economics, an approach that has demonstrated no ability to grow the economy and works only to increase the financial imbalance between the upper and lower economic classes.

The last 4 years have been economically disastrous. The real unemployment rate including those who are underemployed hovers around 22%. Our children and probably their children will have to pay the $16 billion national debt, you know, the one the president said he'd cut in half. Anyone who still votes for this man is doing it on emotion, not logic.

Hey genius, try looking at your own charts. It doesn't show 22%, nor 20% nor 15% or anywhere close to what #1 said above. What it does show is the unemployment rate has sunk back to the same level as when Obama was handed this mess in January 09 and is going down.

Mr. Really, don't bother with the Obamatrons. Anybody Dumb enough to believe we just had the greatest one month surge in hiring since 1983 is already voting for him. The fact that the current President has not changed course with diminishing growth numbers year after year is evidence he is not worthy of his positon. He has not learned or shown a desire to learn. He certainly will not only be remembered as the first minority president but the first massive failure in political minority history. The number of missed opportunitys by this president will be a monument to his arrogance and lack of economic understanding toward growths importance to our nation.
