15th annual Galaxy of Glass runs through Oct 21

FALLBROOK – When the Fallbrook Art Center presents the 15th annual Galaxy of Glass, it will be one of only four venues in Southern California joining with 106 across the United States presenting special celebrations of the 50th Anniversary of the American Studio Glass Movement, coordinated by the Art Alliance for Contemporary Glass, Dallas, Texas.

All are invited to celebrate the evolution and uniqueness of the American Studio Glass Movement. This exhibition and sale showcases a broad spectrum of fine art glass sculptures, vessels, functional ware, and jewelry created by Southern California artists using a myriad of processes including blown, torched, slumped, fused, and cast.

The 2012 show will include a substantial presentation of historic works by Masters of the Movement – Harvey Littleton – considered to be the ‘Father of the Studio Glass Movement,’ Dale Chihuly, William Morris, Fritz Advertisement

Dreisbach, Italo Scanga, and more. Special events include a collector/artist panel, glassblowing opportunities and demos at Fallbrook School of the Arts.

In addition, there are works by 29 California artists in all glass mediums – blown, cast, fused, lampworked, raku, and more.

An Evening with Collectors and Artists will be held on Sept. 22 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Fallbrook Art Center. There will also be glassblowing demonstrations on Sept. 22 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Fallbrook School of the Arts.

The show is open daily through Oct. 21, Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sundays, noon to 3 p.m.

This is one of my favorite shows at the center. Always beautiful.

Wildheart is spot on. The Galaxy of Glass last year was absolutely brilliant. Probably some of the most sophisticated and elegant pieces to date. A must see and a great way to support the Downtown district.
