At shortly before 3 p.m. this afternoon, Thurs., February 16, Fallbrook Sheriff's detectives arrested a suspect in connection with the shooting of a 19-year-old man yesterday on Buena Suerte St., three blocks from Fallbrook High School.

Thomas Mark Hall, 27, a transient who stays in both Fallbrook and Oceanside, was arrested at a drug rehabilitation facility on Coastal Way in Vista. Hall, who is a felony parolee, has been booked into the Vista Jail on charges of attempted murder, armed robbery, and a felon in possession of a firearm.

Sheriff’s Sgt. Joe Montion said Hall allegedly shot Fallbrook resident Brandon Siewert in the face with a semi-automatic handgun.

"Our detectives worked virtually around the clock to find this individual and make the arrest; they did a ton of work as it was a long trail to identify this person," said Lt. Robert Haley, commander of the Fallbrook Sheriff's substation.

"This was an example of great police work."

Haley said after the shooting, "[Hall] checked himself into [drug] rehab at a facility in Vista."

Following the arrest, detectives began processing the scene where Hall was located. Further investigation led detectives back to another Fallbrook home this evening where the gun used in the shooting was located as well as another firearm that had been in Hall’s possession at the time.

"We have now located both of the firearms," confirmed Montion. "The semi-automatic was the one used in the shooting."

Haley said initial information provided by witnesses at the scene of the shooting was not accurate.

"[Hall] is not Hispanic; he is Caucasian," said Haley. "He also does not have any gang affiliation. And there did not appear to be anyone with him."

Haley said detectives are continuing to interview individuals, and Montion stated Detective Tom Vrabel assumed the lead in the investigation.

"We are trying to piece together all the details and are still conducting interviews," said Haley.

Montion said that the victim "is still alive, in critical condition, in the hospital." Unofficial sources said Siewert has been placed in a chemically-induced coma due to his injuries.

North County Fire arranged for the victim to be transported by air to Palomar Hospital Trauma Center after they responded to the emergency call regarding the shooting.

Initial interviews with Siewert were challenging, Haley said, because the victim was "somewhat uncooperative." Siewert himself had an outstanding felony warrant, relating to a prior narcotics charge.

Haley said there was an 18-year-old female Advertisement

[ Christ the King Lutheran Church ]
inside the home at the time of the shooting and another male was inside the residence just prior to the incident.

In a previous interview relating to the crime, Haley said the residence where the shooting took place was "a house familiar to our deputies."

Attempted murder near high school has officers searching for suspect

Debbie Ramsey

Managing Editor

Sheriff's deputies and detectives are searching for a suspect who shot a man this morning inside a home three blocks from Fallbrook High School.

North County Fire paramedics and Sheriff's deputies responded to the emergency call at approximately 10 a.m. (Wed., Feb. 15) in the 900 block of Buena Suerte Street in Fallbrook.

"A 19-year-old male suffered a wound to the head," said John Buchanan, public information officer for North County Fire. "Our paramedics arranged for him to be taken by medical helicopter to Palomar Hospital Trauma Center."

Sheriff's Lt. Robert Haley said the victim was "shot in the face" by a suspect who has been identified as a Hispanic male in his 20s, wearing dark clothing.

"The suspect has also been described as having a small mustache and tattoos on both arms," said Haley.

Haley said the victim, whose identity has not been released, is being "somewhat uncooperative" and it is thought that the victim "knew the suspect."

"The victim himself had an outstanding felony warrant – relating to possession of narcotics," said Haley, who added that the victim was not a gang member. It is unknown whether the suspect in the shooting has gang affiliation.

Haley said it did not appear that there had been forced entry into the home, but details are still not clear as to how the incident occurred.

"There was also an 18-year-old female inside the home who is considered a witness, but she claims her view of the situation was minimal as the victim blocked her view," said Haley.

Haley said the house was familiar to deputies as other law enforcement calls have taken place there.

"It's definitely a house we have been to in the past," he said.

The Sheriff's Dept has utilized the ASTREA helicopter in its search for the suspect, but it is believed he is no longer in the immediate area.

"We have launched a full investigation and our team is working diligently on it," said Haley.

I'm sick of this junk. These guys think they own this town. I don't think so! These are the same creeps that write graffiti on our fences and even the rocks in the santa margarita preserve. Every time I see one of them. EVERY TIME! I slow my car down and throw a nice soda on them and tell them to move on.
You know the ones I'm talking about. Pretty easy to spot. I urge more of you to step up and don't be afraid and tell this scum to go!

According to NCT there was another men with the shooter.
"The suspected shooter was described as Latino, about 25 years old, with tattoos on one arm. He was wearing a black shirt, had a mustache and was possibly carrying a black semi-automatic handgun, and was with a white man, the dispatcher said"

ready for action: They do because people just don't get it. They would rather hide behind their own political correctness in fear of speaking the truth about crime in Fallbrook and the number one cause of it. No matter if it's Fallbrook or Grantville, the reasons for all this nonsense remains a constant and if you have read my postings and op-ed's over the years, you know who these constants are, no need to say it. I live in a REAL barrio, and I see no difference between Fallbrook and where I live now. My question to you Fallbrookians, do you want your friendly village to be as it once was or just another barrio in a long list of others throughout Southern California, it's up to you and only you can envoke change, otherwise get ready for more nonsense from our friends from the south.

Prayers for Fallbrook, the victims, & the attackers. This town doesn't need any more hatred than it already has. @ready to take action; your acrimonious attacks to these scum bags obviously hasn't stopped any of them from continuing on with their shenanigans.... So what good does it do for anyone else to follow your example? Yes, what these people are doing is wrong but the way we all go about handling the situation doesn't seem right. Let law enforcement and people trained in that area of expertise handle them, rather than people doing nothing more than provoking their wrong doings.

I have known this kid (the victim) since 2004, when my son and he began their friendship at Sullivan Middle School. He is NOT part of any so-called 'gang's...but I will bet any amount of money the Latino 'shooter' is. The victim suffered from DRUG ADDICTION...like MANY others in this community. Rumor has it he was shot over a 'drug debt'. I hope it is worth life in prison, without possibility of parole for this punk shooter. The deputies are always looking for something in this town...I hope they step up and find the 'latino' shooter. I am SICK AND TIRED of the terrorism that has infiltrated what USED TO BE a decent little, Main Street town. It's a shame that the 'good' Latino's here don't seem to care much about changing the perception of all. God bless the family of this young man...it could have been any one of our kids. My prayers are with you.

You people are sick. There's a nineteen year old kid who just got shot, and all you care about is your stupid rocks? Call them the low lifes, but you're no better if your reality is so twisted that you would rather complain about some spray paint and people hanging out on a corner instead of having compassion for a human life. I know the victim, and the family.is actually very well known in Fallbrook. So hold your tongue and pray for the family. You people are disgusting and rude. The victim was actually one of the nicest kids I've ever met. He had a few rough spots in high school, but has been clean and goes to church now as well. Think before you speak.

Have some respect and instead of saying things like "let gang banger kill gang bangers" why don't you say things like prayers to the boys family?! Did no one ever teach you if you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all.

I bought a home here a year ago, I guess I should have listened to a local waitress instead of the realtor. She told us about gang issues.

I agree with Fbkmom and Ray, enough, I grew up in so beautiful So. Cal areas that are now not safe to drive through. This has got to stop and all the PC people out there who stand behind illegal immigrants and "gang" members "rights" need to start standing up for citzens and victims rights.

The police need to come in and clear out the areas.

I'm getting pretty sick of the whole labeling people gang members thing in the comments section. So is everybody who has a problem with the law and under 25 a gang member around here? I don't pretend to know the victim or what happened, but I would bet that if we had helped him work past his addiction instead of labeling him a criminal he probably wouldn't have been mixed up with this low life. Maybe we could embraced our youth as a part of the community instead of throwing sodas on them because we don't like their look.

I encourage all of you to reconsider your thoughts about this incident, not only was the victim of the shooting a young man, he was also a good person. I understand how his warrants do not paint him in a good light whatsoever, calling him "gangster lowlife", "trash", or simply a "junkie" sells this person short and is extremely disrespectful to his friends and family. Anybody who has the will to actually take their time to write such things about someone needs to really take some time and think about what type of person they are. Although there was no doubt he was headed down the wrong path, this man, like so many others before him and to come in the future, was suffering from the disease of addiction that had been affecting him for some time. Friends of his knew in the back of their minds that his habits were leading him to prison or death, yet seeing this news report about how a person you grew up with just got shot in the face is nothing short of a tragedy. I Hope those of you who read this can understand there is more to this story than just an addict's ways catching up with him. There is a very sad story that has been unfolding for a while now and this ending is not the one that people like to bring up when talking about childhood friends. I know all of the people close to him will do their best to preserve his legacy as that of a fun loving person who lost track of what was important in life, much more of a character than just some low life polluting the streets of San Diego. Hope your problems are solved my friend, I know youre in a better place now...

The problem with the kids in Fallbrook is the heroin that is getting the kids addicted. It's not just the gang members, it's middle class white kids that smoke it. I totally blame the drug cartels for supplying it. That's what he got shot over. It's very very sad.

This 19 year old "victim's" drug use, whether he wanted to be a member of a gang or not, has affiliated him with drug pushers and gangbangers. People like this "victim" are involved with illegal, criminal behavior and his "friends" that have commented above are enablers for his criminal behavior and illegal drug abuse. A true friend would not support their friend's drug use. It's actually that simple. This 19 year old is not a victim and anyone that sees him as one is enabling his drug abuse and supporting the proliferation of drug abuse in our country. Drug use isn't cool; it's a downward spiral of increasing drug use and increasing criminal acts. I don't want anyone like this "victim" living next door to me and bringing that violence close to my home. And I certainly don't develop friendships with people that have drug addictions and have the ability to bring this type of violence to my home. Drug use kills people and talking about what a nice guy he is doesn't change that. I hear that Whitney Houston was a nice person too.

This kind of stuff happens with drug use. Violence and negative outcomes aren't a shock when hard drugs are involved. For everyone who says "he was a victim and had a problem," maybe a little more time should have been spent helping his known problem and this wouldn't have happened.

As for the shooter, hopefully they catch him and put a bullet in his face as well. If you're going to tell me the shooter needs rehabilitation too then you're just dumb and blind to what's happening today.

I've read these comments and can't believe that people are so cold hearted. I don't live in the area and don't know anyone involved, but came across this story through a post I saw. The importance of life has become so poor that people worry about their home values, and rocks. Then there are those who call the victim names, and sit in judgement of his life without knowing him, or what caused his drug issues as if they had the right to judge anyone. I hope for your sake that Christ does not judge you in the same manner. My heart goes out to this young man's family and friends...and to you, the reader who post such rude, arrogant posts with no regard for who it would hurt. There but by the grace of God go you. It is my hope and prayer that this community bands together for the common good, rather than publicly flogging a young man who was trying to turn his life around. Think about what you would want posted about you, or a family member of yours prior to posting your comments. Let's show some class and respect.

To all of the people that are posting hateful and negative statements about the victim: YOU ARE DISGUSTING. What if that was someone you knew and loved? How would it make you feel to see such terrible things being said by people that have NO idea what the situation was? Well if you can't grasp the concept, you would feel hurt and attacked by the people of this so called "Friendly Village." All of you that are complaining about how the friendly village has turned to junk ... TAKE A LOOK IN THE MIRROR. It's people like you that spread hate and trouble wherever you go or whenever you decide to open your big mouths. It is so wrong of you to judge the victim. Whether he had a problem with drugs or not, that doesn't mean that he wasn't a good person. He was still a human being and deserves more respect than most of you people. If someone called your loved one terrible names or said that they deserved to die, you would be pissed off, so why is it okay for you to pass judgement? IT'S NOT. If God judged you on the same level that you're judging the victim, you would all be doomed. So here's some advice: MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS, RESPECT GRIEVING FRIENDS&FAMILY, and if you're the epitome of perfect, STOP HIDING BEHIND A KEYBOARD. Seriously, you people disgust me. Stay classy Fallbrook. Oh wait... it's to late for that. Maybe it would be better if you just keep your mouths shut instead of spreading slander about someone you DON'T EVEN KNOW. My prayers and condolences go out to the victim's family. Nobody deserves to go through this tragedy. Rest in Peace&hope to see you again someday.

To all of you attacking the character of the victim you should be ashamed of yourselves. To judge someone when you truly have no idea what kind of person he was is what is causing this violence. Blind hatred of any kind towards another human being breads violence and is just as much of a problem as drug addiction and gangs. I feel everyone needs to take a step back and get off their high horses and realize that people make mistakes. This was a young man just beginning his life, he could have made a difference or been a positive influence once he cleaned up his life as someone stated he was doing. I wasn't a close friend but have heard that this young man brought so much light and happiness to these peoples lives, and after reading that it's hard to believe that others who do not know him describe him as "scum." He seems to have made many positive impacts on many peoples lives, so I think for his memory and families sake remember the good and let go of the bad and let him rest in peace.

A family is grieving. How would you feel if your child lost their life and people could say it negative things. Let this family grieve. All you parents out their hug your children, you never know when that is the last time you will see them.

All you supposed "great" friends who are acting so insulted over what people are saying about a FELON, with a warrant, who was shot in a place where other lowlifes hang out only have yourselves to blame. Turning his life around? Doesn't sound like it. If he was such a great person then why didn't you all make the tough decisions it takes to make sure he got help. You didn't. Case closed. You only have yourselves to criticize. If you know any other good people in this situation, you might want to do something.

First of all, just about everyones on drugs in Fallbrook and stuff like this happens when your an addict. Yess it's sad it happened to Brandon, but it could of happened to anyone. The latest report states he's still alive in critical condition, but was put into a chemically enduced coma. They've also arrested Thomas Hall, they found the gun used to shoot Brandon at a residence of his. Weather the shooting was over drug money or whatever, it doesnt make the situation any better. A young man was shot, and if you dont have grief for him or his family, thats simply wrong.

Wow. The trolls are in rare form on this one. Not content to spew their ignorant trash talk at the victim, now they outright berate the friends and family. I even saw the obligatory "it's the Mexican's fault" comment. I don't care what this kid put in his body he didn't deserve to get shot in the face. From what I can gather from the people that actually seem to know him he is well loved.

"Friends? Not exactly" You're an xxxx. Go do your ranting somewhere else. People here are grieving and your Monday morning quarterbacking isn't helping anyone or anything. Just because you want to sit here and judge this kid doesn't make you any better than him. He got caught up with the wrong crowd and made some mistakes, yes, but I'm sure he was a nice guy. I didn't know him personally but I know many people who did. Just close the page, your services aren't needed here. Let these people say their condolences and move on with your day. Sitting here talking in a negative manner about someone who is passed away is absolutely terrible. Get up and move on with your life, while these people say nice things about someone who did nice things with his time here on our planet. Lets all take a moment and remember a life of a son, friend, and a human being. Instead of talking bad about the life he lead, lets discuss the positive things he brought to this world, and lets act as the "friendly village" that we're supposed to be.

My heart goes out to the young mans family and friends who are dealing with much a sad lost. I apologize for all the ugly rude comments people have made. It just makes you realize that at the end of the day our community can not look past the race or mistakes people do and will point fingers all day long. Hey FBKMOM no Latino killer here it was Thomas M Hall white male not gang related. We Latinos have a very good firm perception but you'll never see it. Every race has it. Not all white people are whitetrash. You can not always blame it on the Latinos legal and illegal for the wrong choices our youth makes. Drugs have always been around Woodstock for example lots and lots of drugs there who do you think the parents blamed back then. Not Latinos! Who got the youth of those days all strung-out? Ignorance it what it comes to people. There's no way you can accuse a whole population for a problem that's always existed. The truth we Americans consume more drugs then any other and we still look down on it. Unfortunately its part of our culture here. We as a community should help these people and make it a point that we want our town drug free! Stop pointing fingers it's EVERYONE not only one race is the problem it's the whole community.

I would hope all who care about him and even those horrible people who really can't even be considered a part of our community w/the way they feel about others, w/their insane rants, WILL call the DA's office and insist on NO bail and follow this case thru so a monster who cares so little for human life is NEVER allowed on our streets again! To be fair, yes.... an Anglo did this crime but.... if this was the only crime in Fallbrook, it would be Mayberry but it's not. All too often the crimes resemble the menu at Alberto's and since 99.9% are of "a certain group" people get "numb" but to hear of "one" stupid crime committed by someone other than a "certain" ethnic group even throws me for a loop. But honestly, if Fallbrook only had crimes committed by the ethnic group of "this" crime, I would be living in Fallbrook because crime would be 000.001%. I pick "pale face crime" over "rice and beans" any day.

Also, please quote your source that 0.001% of crimes are committed by the rest of the population. Really? With a 59 year family history in Fallbrook, I can guarantee you that the crime rate was never that low, even before the Bracero program of the forties. Please continue to share your opinions, but you might want to steer clear of the statistical slippery slope.

Reality Checks and Friends Not Exactly need a reality check themselves. I can guarantee you that your neighbors and friends use drugs and you don't know it. Drugs are so prolific in this town and in San Diego County because of the greed associated with dealing. Your "high horse" attitudes enable the problem to get worse by spouting judgments of condemnation on others and doing nothing else to help the problem. Do you volunteer for a high school teenage program that helps keep kids away from drugs? Do you provide some kind of healthy activity on a weekend night in this town for kids to participate in besides high school sports that have limited room for players or a neighborhood party? Do you open your home and hearts to kids to give them a safe place to go if they need it? Do you volunteer at a drug rehab or support a program to help keep people off drugs? Before you judge, decide to move away, or throw sodas, rocks, or shout profanities to people, wake up and do something positive that will make this town an great example of how a community can make their town a better place to live. Some of our local churches have programs and Young Life is available to kids too. However, they desperately need volunteers to help. Stop talking and start doing something.

First, and foremost, a huge KUDOS to the Fallbrook sheriff deputies and detectives who worked diligently to make an arrest in this case. THANK YOU. Secondly, my apologies for presuming that what one reads in the media is correct. This 'mistake' was apparently generated by the 'witness' to the crime. I will not, however, apologize for the gang related comments...if you look at SD County arrests statistically, there are far more arrests of Latinos, illegal, or not, in this county than any other ethnic population. Spend an afternoon in the courts in Vista, or walk into the lobby of the Adult Probation dept.,...a WHOLE lot more Latino faces there than Caucasian. There is a serious Latino gang problem in 'the Friendly Village'. It is something that cannot be ignored. Nor is it going away. A person DOES get jaded! I guess the answer is to move out of town and let them have it. As for the drug problem, it is still my understanding that most of the drugs brought into this community...into Southern Calif., come via Mexico. I guess the country needs SOME form of gross national income, other than US dollars being sent back 'home'. So much for 'the WAR ON DRUGS' this country has invested so heavily in (for what? the last 30 years?)...I think it is time they invest that money in the addicts rehabilitation (those who DESIRE it), and to maintain our law enforcement. As for Brandon, set the record straight by noting that his felony arrest warrant was for 'failure to appear' at his last court date. Yes, he was arrested for drugs recently. I wonder if it was one valium in his pocket, or scrappings from a piece of foil, or hash pipe, that garnered him a 'felony' conviction...like another of his friends. Do you have any idea how 'drug rehabilitation' works in our court systems these days? Our state is so broke (any idea WHY?), that it cannot AFFORD to get drug addicts into a program. Yes, they MANDATE it, but it is up to the drug addict to find his own help. There ARE still states in the US that CAN afford to treat drug addicts, by the way. I'm just not sure how many families in Fallbrook have $3,000 (minimum!) to $15,000 to spend on a rehab program, despite how much they love, educate, hope and PRAY (along with anyone who cares enough to help), that their kids will come out 'the other end' alive, and have a future to look forward to. I know that was what the Siewert family provided Brandon. Drug addiction is a disease...most cancers are easier to treat than drug/alcohol addiction. Drug addiction in Fallbrook is probably up there, or close to the 'gang' problem...can they BOTH be 'treated'? These 'good' kids get TRAPPED in a legal system, in addition to their addiction, and the road ahead looks pretty darn DIM for them. Brandon SAID he 'was clean', or 'wanted to be clean', depending upon who he was speaking to. He was NOT. In the past couple of months (since being arrested...which was NOT for meth or heroin) he DID 'fall in' with a bad crowd, and began using a drug he had not previously used...meth. Many of his friends warned him, and his family DID care. Judging by the people he was spending time with (METH addicts and dealers), his friends saw something like this coming, and let Brandon know. Brandon always exhibited a 'trusting nature', however. I am certain, that when faced with a gun to his face, he believed that 'the transient felon' could, and would, not do it. So, there you go...to all of the other 'good' kids out there who are struggling with addiction, YES, it CAN happen to YOU. What Brandon's FRIENDS 'know' of Thomas Mark Hall (I guarantee you most have never heard of him, nor know his real name), is that he was 'some tweeker dude that just got out of prison last year' (let's not forget that he, too, has a family out there somewhere, who like likely dealt with his addiction with 'tough love'...you know, throwing them out to the wolves on the street). Evidently, he was so far GONE on the drug that he was capable of something so horrific. Since this state's prisons are so over-crowded, I guarantee (despite calls to the DA) the deputies will see this guy on the streets of 'the Friendly Village' again, at some point. To the Siewert family...it is time to get ourselves and our kids OUT OF THIS TOWN...even our local deputies offer that recommendation. My heart and prayers go out to this family and ALL who are living with and/or struggling with addiction. From a 'mom's' point of view, Brandon WAS an endearing kid...until drugs put their grip on his life. Even then, he usually had a smile on his face, and exhibited a kind heart. I truly did care for Brandon, which is why I told him (and my son) to stay away from each other until they were BOTH 'clean', last time I saw him, a few short weeks ago. I do not know what Brandon's 'prognosis' is, but, I hope that the Siewert family considers Brandon's future 'quality of life', in respect to his current medical care. We shared the 'loss' of our sons (GOOD kids, LOVED by their large group of friends, with a GREAT deal of POTENTIAL) to drugs, which, in itself, is a tragedy of which NO one can judge the depth, unless you have lived through it yourself. Thankfully, my son is, at least, currently using a 'prescription drug to detox from another prescription drug'...which is still 'walking a tight rope', as far as I am concerned. I still live my life 'holding my breath'. Addicts are not capable of making 'CLEAR choices'. This could easily have been my son. I think, in part, because of this, my heart is SO heavy with grief for you (Brandon's family). People of the community, students and teachers in our schools, law enforcement...PLEASE open your EYES and recognize that addiction is a DISEASE, one that is probably the most DIFFICULT to heal from (as with cancer, there is NO 'cure'...you are only in remission, for the remainder of your life). This is a heart-wrenching story, in every aspect. We can only pray that God will (someday) work a miracle in this community, and that the addicts look to Him for a miracle. Remember, God wants to be your first choice... NOT your last resort. Good luck, and God bless.

I think if we also check U.S. citizens at the door, we can get quite a bit of issues out of the way. There has got to be a start in stopping this nonsense, and if we pull together as a town we can combat a lot of problems and not just this subject here. You would be surprised about how much we could accomplish as a team, or town. I also have another idea that I will personally look into, we had a similar problem in my old town, and we were able to tackle it as a whole, with a little help from some friends. Once you bag up “no parking” and “no stopping” signs for personal convenience that sends a message that the law is to be followed in all cases except of course in any case where you consider it inconvenient to follow that law. If one rule is temporary why not are all? If you can bag one section of the CVC anytime you want why not bag it all?

Sounds like Fallbrook's version of the 'First 48'. I like it!

May the young man survive, heal well and allow this encounter to be the wake up call he so desperately appears to have been needing. I pray for his parents and those that care about him (as demonstrated by comments above) can be strong enough to encourage it and move forward.

fbkmom - your comment, albeit lengthy, hits many points straight on. I, too, have had to deal with a child caught up in the scourge of meth and it is not a pleasant experience. It's a vice grip of addiction that many are not strong enough to get released from. For those bashing the parents, your argument is weak. One cannot prevent it, if it is meant to be, nor force change upon a person until they are ready for that change to take place. Intact two-parent homes, a loving environment, sports, church, boy/girl scouts, youth groups, etc cannot stop some from making poor decisions / choices all the time (we had it all and then some). I am happy for those who have never had to suffer it in their personal lives, directly or vicariously, but don't bash all of those who have.

Decriminalizing drugs will not work, because no matter how weak you make drug laws (thus potentially reducing the 'cost' of their fix) those same addicts will still continue to burglarize and steal from others to support their habits; and sometimes progress to this abhorrent behavior. Do we want MORE of these folks on our streets? I think not. But, making available the help needed to beat those addictions is a worthwhile investment for those that truly want it; but imprisonment for those that do not.

That's my .02

I grew up in Fallbrook and used to be friends with Brandon in middle school. I believe that NO ONE deserves for this to happen to them whether they are using drugs or not. Brandon was a sweet boy and like many others above me had mentioned he always had a smile on his face. He was friendly and kind and regardless of this incident that is always how I will remember him.

There are many young people in Fallbrook and all over the US that suffer from drug addiction and just because they have gotten wrapped up in the wrong things does not make them bad people. For those of you who have never known anyone with a drug problem it might be easy to judge and classify them as bad people but do you really think this is what they want from their life? Yes they've made bad choices but they don't want to be drug addicts either. They try to get their life back on track but addiction of any sort is such a serious disease. They need support to get their lives back on track not judgement. Those of you who are so quick to turn your backs on someone who needs help are the reason things escalate this far. Brandon was a caring person and needs to be kept in our thoughts and prayers.

& For those who are saying such bad things about the Fallbrook community... these incidents happen everywhere, not just in Fallbrook. I wouldn't trade growing up in Fallbrook for anything. I have made great life long friends, belong to an amazing church, throughly enjoyed my high school years, and now have moved away and am on my way to a bright future. I could go on and on about the reasons why I love Fallbrook and the amazing things this town can do when we come together. I do believe that it is a friendly village and has an amazing sense of community support.

When Jacob Robinson was in a car accident driving home from football practice the town truly came together as one. I know based on the comments above me and everyone's judgmental approach that sadly this will not happen for Brandon but I still believe it should. Although he was associated with drugs (I don't know to what extent) he is still a victim and like I said no one deserves this. The bigger the support system people have the more likely they are to succeed.

Brandon is in my prayers and I pray that if he makes it through this you will turn off your judgement and give him your love & support. For that is the only way that he can overcome this and begin his way towards a brighter future.

Go the start of this thread to see who first gave out the wrong information about Brandon being dead. Should be easy enough to see who started the rumor on Facebook.

The incorrect information about who shot Brandon was given by he, himself, or the girl who was with him at the time. Blame them for starting that misinformation.

THEY are to blame for the lies about who shot him. Others just commented on it.

Yeah, drug addicts and pushers were all somebodies little boy or girl. That doesn't change the fact that they bring crime and danger to anyone unlucky enough to be around them now that they are adults and addicts, and they steal, prostitute and kill because of thier habit, making life around them hellish and dangerous.

My suggestion to everyone in Fallbrook, start reporting crimes you see instead of turning a blind eye to everything. Don't be stupid and take the law into your own hands leave it to the ones trained to handle it, we don't need a lynch mob or anything. When you hear a domestic make the call...it could be one of these thugs with warrants or a drug dealer. I lived in an apartment complex in Fallbrook and I am not stretching the truth when I say approx. 15 people came out of their apartments to see what the yelling was about one night, when they realized it was a domestic, they went back in their aparts., shut off the lights and went back to bed. I was the only one who reported it, and the Sheriff was there within mins. of my call and the man was arrested. He never came back to the property. People get in a situation and second guess if they are over reacting, should I or shouldnt I call. CALL...let the sheriff decide if they need to check it out.

Has a friend to the family of this young man, I ask that prayer surrounds him as he recovers from the physical the emotional and addiction. As a mother of a son in recovery, I knew your judgment and hurt you cause by not understanding addiction. As a child that grew up here and a graduate from the high school that now has children growing up in this town, it is not the same. It has changed drastically.
Drugs are a huge problem in this community. Watch the sherrifs logs in village news. The kids get it in the schools and streets. My teenage sons says " it's fallbrook, you can get drugs everywhere". I encourage parents to drug test your kids randomly and reguarly. Then you know. Maybe you can help save them before addiction takes over.
Prayer and never judge. Because It can and is happening to our good children.

Brandon is in a medically induced coma. Please everyone pray for him and his family. I know the owners of the house, they lived in that house for 10 years without any incidents like this...and also raised their kids, so it is a safe place to live. Wish they will return soon so that they don't have to have renters. Oh, no Gold, just Gophers...LOL

I heard from a reliable source that Brandon is being released from ICU. So glad he'll have a second chance. You can do your best and kids will do what kids will do. Poor children with no parental figures can go to Harvard, an intact family of four kids can have two that do well and two that don't, free will. My thoughts are with the Siewerts, much love to you all.

Look there is going to be violence wherever you live. I have lived in Fallbrook for all of my 19 years and I love it more than anything. But I am sick and tired of hearing people say "let them shoot each other, eventually their population will die out" how would you feel if your son got shot in the face, no matter what the reason have some sympathy and unfreeze your heart. These negative comments make me sick and do not help the poor guy who is in the hospital fighting for his life! This guy was one of the nicest and greatest I have ever met and just because of unfortunate circumstances you are going to turn your back and be completely rude to the people who love him and hope he returns?

If your going to be negative keep it to yourself, don't bring us people with hope that he survives down.

Learning and training starts at an early age and at "HOME" people. We need to blame the parents....not the world. I see that parents are scared of their children even at a young age. Need to go back and ask grand parents for advice in raising kids.

I don't want to jump on the band wagon, but, I want to say: When I first read this paper I loved the fact that people posted notes. I loved to read them & couldn't wait to read the new posts. I soon saw a pattern of the same person posting over & over again. More posts were to that one person then the event. That person now doesn't even live in Fallbrook anymore, it seems. Yet posts as much as before, just to get a rise out of people. Please, isn't there a way to ban his kind of " writing on the walls" of Fallbrook. Right or wrong, feels small & posts his "tags" to feel big. Why can't you block him? I don't like to read the paper anymore. I have no problem with bad news or the fact that bad things happen in the world/ Fallbrook. But,the paper is not about just him.The paper can help us find the missing child or the posted face of a shoplifter. It's not to be filled up by people with no other outlet in life. My husband is an over 20 year Marine, I get the idea he is ranting about but, this is not his soapbox. Thank you for your ear, this was my first & only post.

Seems like lots of people want to tell others to shut up on this forum. Look at #119 and #120, for example, or many others ahead of them. Disagreeing with a viewpoint isn't enough to call for a ban or to silence others.

#119 Victims Cousins Girlfriend....if it wasn't over drugs, what was it about then? Seriously, you expect people to believe that 2 addicts involved in a shooting and it wasn't about drugs or money? Enlighten us.

This time it was 2 addicts and not gang related. Someone tried to make it sound gang related with the description of the shooter. Why would they do that?

Often comments to articles are from people affiliated with gangs, and they always say to take a look at all the tweekers and junkies in town, not just them. That is what is happening now and it's not pleasant to have the shoe on the other foot.

Sad but true.

Brandon is awake and he is doing good. He's hugging his girlfriend and going to be able to watch tearz get justice for what he did to him. On tearz girlfriends facebook there is previous status updates of her talking about someone calling the cops on tearz and reporting him on facebook for making threats over facebook and his facebook was shut down for a while for him doing that. She posted a status saying that the person who called the cops on him was lame for calling them and only did it because he lives in a different area/state. And another person wrote her saying that he needed to speak to tearz and to have him message him on facebook and she said that he could talk to him face to face. and he said that he didn't want to because he didn't want to get "his butt kicked". Seriously, everyone can see how dangerous he is, so she obviously knows he is dangerous and to know that he has possession of TWO firearms and he took one to Brandon's house and shot him in his face. He is a person who deserves to spend the rest of his life in prison. And she deserves to go down with him. She posted previous statues on facebook stating she was waiting for brandon siewert and his girlfriend to wake up just 20 days before brandon was shot. She knew Brandon before that from school and his ex-girlfriend. And she introduced tearz and Brandon and let her stupid boyfriend take a gun and shoot him. She is at fault also. They should both spend the rest of their lives in prison. I hope the police charge anyone else involved with accessory. I really hope Brandon gets better quick and gets to go home soon! (: Im so happy for him and his family and so happy that he is alive to see justice for himself.

Ok I have been digging deep because this is my family. And this is sad to hear and deal with because I also use to go to school with Brandon and when I heard I was upset. But everyone needs to not talk junk unless u actually know what happened. I was at Thomas's arraignment and I have heard some stories that it was a dope deal. Or Brandon owed Thomas money. But at court the DA actually said there were 2 victims in which I do feel horrible for my cousins actions but the D.A stated that victim 2 stated something to the fact that it was over a gold coin. Now I don't know what is really happening because everyone lies but I do know what the courts and judge said. And honestly Thomas messed up and he has to pay. Yes. But at the same time from what the news said is they both were felons in which everybody knows. And supposidly Brandon had a warrant. But that is none of my business. The fact is I hear from my cousin that it was an accident and now I have seen way different from these comments and I personally have told Thomas. U have to have intent to even have a gun, let alone two! And u have to have intent and pressure on the trigger to fire the bullet. I don't see an accident in that but who am I to say that? I'm not taking any sides on this but whoever commented with the name of "cousin" you are not Thomas's cousin if u are talking bout him. And yes he is not a bad person he just totally lost his way and he's in deep trouble. His actions are the reflect of his future. But your not real family so don't try to be and be upset with me putting u on blast but I only speak the truth especially when it comes to a horrible situation like this. But as for Brandon and his girlfriend. I hope u make it out ok buddy and for u both I'm sorry for my cousins complete stupid action.

Cousin or not...wake up and if you were all true friends and cousins, why didn't you all help them? To the two girlfriends if that's what you call yourselves....wake up ladies and smell the roses. Is this what you want in your life? I hope and pray that you both wake up soon. Where do you all want to be ten years from now? Answer that question! I sure hope not with the two losers! I don't know why this case bothers me so much. I guess I just can't reconcile in my mind how someone can get so far gone to drugs that murder/attempted murder becomes the outcome. I guess maybe what bothers me is I have two young children and it scares me to no end to think they could get wrapped up in drugs like this despite the best parenting I can give.

Someone said that they are both criminals. So does that make it okay to attempt to kill the victim?? NO. I think the same person asked why no one posted the victims personal info. Criminal information happens to be public record. At this time the victim hasn't been charged in this crime. Although if the rumor someone posted above about a them finding a "pocket full of meth" on the victim is true, I wonder if he will be charged.

I will agree BOTH need to be prayed for. I pray they can both overcome their addictions and be productive citizens.

I also pray every time I am driving around Fallbrook that I don't get killed by some drug addict driving around town hopped up on some thing.

Say what u want. Maybe, hopefully this saved both of them from a even worse road somewhere along the lines. 84592: yes, Brandon will get his justice, since he is doing well, and was less seriously injured than everyone apparently believes. the findings of the sheriff's include methamphetamine, packaged for sale, in Brandon's shirt pocket. For this he should certainly receive justice. And Thomas will receive his. Bottom line is that these were two whacked out meth addicts haggling over a coin stolen from someones mother...probably a burglary one of them committed. Hopefully they both get sober in prison and find their peace (and continued sobriety) in a higher power...other than DRUGS. So, yes Brandon, and Thomas, STAY STRONG! You will need all the strength you can muster, for what justice is ahead for both of you. Oh, sheriff's...what about Brandon's girlfriend impeding your investigation with erroneous information...regarding the suspects? What about her being charged with the drugs as well?

Apathy has resulted in the mess we are in and the only fix is to demand the Judicial system get tough on crime and put an end to revolving door justice. Just because a person (previously used/under the influence of drugs), does not mean they deserve to die. I am sure most of the folks posting nasty comments, have a druggie or two in their family. If you think you don't, think again.

Just curious, how many of you have never, ever done any drugs??? How many of your family members, have never, ever done drugs??? Just curious.

Anyone posting comments such as: druggies deserve to die. Better not be a hypocrite- with a dope smoking, drug sniffing, needle slamming history whatsoever. Or have any family members with a drug history either. Otherwise, you are a complete fraud, acting like you're pure as the driven snow.

And it's really doubtful that anyone on here is the angel they claim to be, and never tried anything. And yes, pot is a drug too-sorry. Hope nothing like this ever happens to anyone, or their families for that matter. Child molesters and rapists deserve to die.

But if we wished everyone (who's ever tried a drug even once, or had a drug history) dead, there hardly be anyone left alive in Fallbrook would there??
