Two Fallbrook men were apprehended last night when they attempted to steal the tires from a truck in a local car sales lot.

Sheriff's deputies Michael Tingley and Domenic Carini were on patrol hear the Autohaus car dealership in the 1500 block of South Mission Road last night about 11:57 p.m. when they heard a car alarm sound. As the deputies approached the car lot, they saw a person jump over the fence on the property.

"Suspecting they had interrupted a vehicle burglary, the deputies chased after the suspect who went over the fence in an attempt to get away," said Lt. Mike Barnett. "Deputy Tingley was able to apprehend the suspect, who was later identified as a 17-year-old juvenile."

A second suspect who fled the scene was found later by the deputies at his residence.

"The second suspect was identified as Erick Arreola, 18," said Barnett.

Barnett said, "The juvenile admitted to deputies that he and Arreola were in the process of taking the tires off of a Toyota truck that was in the lot for sale when they accidentally activated the vehicle alarm."

Arreola was arrested and booked into the Vista Jail on charge of 664-487 PC - Attempted Grand Theft.

"The juvenile was processed and released to his parents," said Barnett.

The Sheriff's department is recommending to the San Diego District Attorney's office that the two be charged with grand theft and conspiracy, both felonies.

Barnett said it is not unusual for deputies to hear car alarms sound, but in many cases it does not relate to a break-in.

"We hear car alarms all the time and it's easy to dismiss them as being caused by any number of things, but these deputies were alert, saw suspicious activity, chased down the criminals and made two great arrests," he said.

Bad idea to have a juvenile as your accomplice.

Car alarms are so common, it makes me wonder if we even regard them as anything other than a nuisance to listen to. ....good thing is the officers had their suspicions, though! Great work Fallbrook sheriffs!!

Good police work! Now, the sheriff's dept. should call I.C.E. to check on the perps immigration status.

Excellent, it's good to see that a couple of low life boneheads, get a felony on the old record. This always looks good when when your trying to get a job. By the way, Great job to the Parents of these two fine upstanding fellow, soon to be inmates. You must have taken a lot of time teaching your sons the finer details of living a good life, you should be in Jail with them.

Tingley is one of the good deputies. He was my transportation deputy last year, nice guy, not like some of the others. Glad to hear he got credit for the arrrest. I see corporal stripes in his near future. As for the "perps", what can I tell you folks I already have said before.

Juan: Most likely "anchor" children.
prowrestler: San Diego is a "sanctuary" county.

I wish god was here on earth to serve justice on criminals and to all the hateful commentators that spread their hate on this website.

Mike (comment # 10) I noticed your comment started with YOU as a capital "I" and God as a small "small g" god. Since He occurs for you like he's not that important he probably figures you got it all handled. How's it working for ya' so far?

You can do your best in raising children and sometimes nothing goes right. It's not only the parents fault but teachers are afraid to discipline because of law suits. Even the police most of the time arest minors and then call the parents. Parents can't discipline children or someone will call chidren social services. I think we should go back to the good old days and give kids a good spanking, take them to church on Sunday, back up the teacher. I hear pre-teens and older using four letter words like they were drinking water. Flip the police off and other adults. Call their teachers names. Teachers are even sidding with aliens in school, fear of law suites. Sidns on schools and churces in spanish, come on lets all speak a language that we can all undrstand. RESPECT.

Arreola is still in jail and goes to court today on $20,000 bail. How come the 17 year old was release to his parents. Trust me, these two have the same brain power and should be in jail together.

Good job Deputies. Nice to know you don't ignore car alarms like the rest of the nation. That makes me happy.

The truck was not stolen but in the lot with the tires on it.
If the truck was actually stolen, that would be a different charge.
Sounds like these 2 fellows were trespassing and attempted burglary.

To Juan and Pro-wrestler, its sad how you guys read that the suspect had a Hispanic last name and jump to conclusions about its legal status. like hyenas on a dead carcass. Tell me if the suspect was black would you of said something? probably not because you wouldn't want to seem like you guys are "racist". now if the suspect was white you guys would probably go on a rant about affirmative action and how the poor guy was force to commit such a crime. Or would started to blame bush (if democrat). Or if one of you guys is a republican you probably blame Obama for not creating real jobs (which is true). Criminals come in all colors. stop the hate!!

Mexican me: Seems all you hear lately is crime with a bit of salsa attached to it. What do you expect people to say, it's common place and getting old fast. Maybe people are not racists but realists. I used to enjoy reading the papers and watching the television news but lately it's like reading or watching the Mexican media, same old story, same hue.

JB: You should read some of the stuff Village News censors, I was being kind. I'll explain it once again for the "slow folks" when you have 40 hispanics in a 50 cell unit, seems there is something to it. Just remember last comment I made a few weeks ago stated the who is in jail stats resembled an Albertos menu, and in the context you used it's "grow up" but I'm just too old and too tired to change now.

This is actually a pretty cool story. Every time I hear a car alarm in the middle of the night I just get mad that it woke me up. I can't speak for everyone, but it seems to me that over the last few years the Fallbrook deputies have really stepped up to the plate and hit quite a few home runs. I'd hate to be a crook trying to pitch against them. Good job Deputies Tingley and Carini! In addition to taking Ray to jail I seem to remember a story a while back about him arresting some low life that took a lady's cat and held it for ransom. We are lucky to have that guy working in the Brook.
