FALLBROOK – When Fallbrook Community Center opened its doors, leg warmers and PacMan were all the rage. Fast forward 30 years and the fashions may have changed but the Center’s commitment to serve the needs of an evolving community in a friendly environment has not.

"This is the first community center the County ever built," said Brian Albright, Director of the County of San Diego Department of Parks and Recreation. "We are very proud that the Center continues to be a hub for families, seniors and the community."

The Center has managed to retain traditions the community wants while keeping the community’s youth interested and engaged. Over the years, the Center has brought in computers, "battle of the bands" competitions, healthy cooking classes and bridge groups to address a younger generation as well as senior citizens.

"The community center has evolved and changed, yet there remains a friendly home town feel," said Gordon Stone, who has been managing the Center for the past 30 years. "I’m glad to be a part of that." The morning Fitness Fusion class (formerly Get Fit) has also been at the center since the beginning.

The Fallbrook Community Center offers over 40 reasonably priced classes and programs including preschool, computer, Tai Chi, after-school, senior lunches, yoga, guitar and science classes.
