Gunnery Sgt. Floyd E. C. Holley killed in bomb blast in Afghanistan

SAN DIEGO - A Camp Pendleton-based Marine killed in a weekend bomb blast in Helmand province, Afghanistan, was lauded for his bravery today by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Gunnery Sgt. Floyd E. C. Holley, 36, died Sunday from injuries suffered in a bomb blast.

"Maria and I send our thoughts and prayers to the family and friends of Gunnery Sgt. Floyd Holley," Schwarzenegger stated. "He was a brave Marine who died honorably, defending our freedoms. We are grateful for his service, and we will never forget his courage."

was married, and his wife is expecting his first child, the Orlando Sentinel reported.

He was one of two members of the 7th Engineer Support Battalion, 1st Marine Logistics Group, I Marine Expeditionary Force.

The other, Master Sgt. Daniel L. Fedder, a 16-year-veteran from Pine City, Minn., was killed Saturday when a makeshift bomb explode

The Marine Corps Times reported that both had been to Iraq twice before being deployed to Afghanistan.

Schwarzenegger said Fedder "embodied our nation's highest ideals and we are greatly indebted to him for his service and sacrifice."

God Bless Sgt. Holley and all those that loved and knew him.

He paid the ultimate price for the freedom we so enjoy today.

"MSgt Fedder, Daniel L. and GySgt Holley, Floyd E. C. checking in for duty" was heard by Angels at the Pearly Gates. Two more Marines checking in for the GREATEST DUTY EVER...protecting the Heavens and receiving future Marines. Semper Fi, GOD Speed and THANK YOU Marines!!!

Rest in Peace GySgt Holley and god bless his family. He paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom and it will not be forgotten or be in vain.

My heart goes out to the wife and child of this brave fallen hero! You are all in my prayers! Eternal rest grant to GySgt Holley, Oh Lord, and let perpetual life shine upon him. May his soul, through the love and mercy of our God, rest in peace. Amen.
