FALLBROOK – The Fallbrook Gem & Mineral Society will meet Thurs., Sept. 9 at 6 p.m. in the meeting room at 123 W. Alvarado St. It is sign up night for new members, so visitors are encouraged to attend.

The evening will begin with a potluck supper, followed by guest speaker Nathan Renfro, staff gemologist at the Gemological Institute of America in Carlsbad. Renfro will talk about "The Modern Lapidary Artist: Applications and Methods for Cutting Gem Material."

There will be discussion on past and future fieldtrips and everyone is invited to bring samples of summer finds for "show and tell." Also set for discussion is the upcoming Fall Festival that FGMS will host on October 3, and more.
