The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a flash flood warning at 1:30 p.m. today for North San Diego County and Southwest Riverside County.

A storm carrying heavy rain is moving into the area at a rate of 10 miles per hour.

The NWS says excessive runoff can occur from heavy rainfall and cause flooding of small creeks and streams, highways and underpasses.

A flash flood warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring. Residents living near streams and creeks should take immediate precautions to protect life and property. Do not attempt to cross swiftly flowing waters or waters of unknown depth by foot or by automobile.

heavy rain.

*Firefighters have responded to blazes east of Vail Lake at State Route 79 and Crosley Truck Trail; at Sage Road and Wade Lane east of Lake Skinner; and Sage Road and Soaring Hawk Road, northeast of Vail Lake, as of 2:30 p.m., Cal Fire spokeswoman Cheri Patterson said. It has just been heard that this fire has jumped Warren Road south of the Lake Skinner Recreation Area.

*A fire has also reportedly started near Clinton Keith Road and Palomar Street close to Interstate 15.

*Fire officials have also reported a fire on Palomar Mountain just east of Boucher Lookout that does not appear to be actively spreading at this time.

Cal Fire says, "There have been several lightening strikes in the area and we have staged equipment in the area if any additional fires should be reported."

There have not been any threats to structures at this time.
