You donate to save a life!!!!! Although it seems unfair, it's for good cause. Charma!

Charma does not fill my pocket one penny. Let the God's of MD worry about saving lives driving their Mercedes to La Costa to take in in 18 holes with their graphite Calloway clubs. Soon as they accept $15.00 for an office visit, than and only than will I donate blood.

From the looks of your comments, looks as though you folks in California don't believe in God's Golden Rule. "Give unto others as you would have them give unto you". I feel sorry for people with your mentally. God didn't put you on this earth to be selfish, he created you to love one another. Now, get over yourself. The Lord is coming soon....are you ready?

JWS, you can donate to your own blood storage for if and when you need it!

Ray, my doctor takes $10 for an office visit here in fallbrook so if your waitng for him to raise the rates you might want to get off your horse or computer chair and start giving! Get educated before speaking. Secondly, when your in the hospital taking blood think of the person that donated it to save your life to live another day.

Sooner knows everything as he/she can quote Gods word... eeeewwww... get with the program as 2 folks now represent California as a whole? Its says give to others not to give to everyone! Pretty sure judging was to be left to him and him only!

Giving in whatever form is good for the heart and soul. For negative folks just know this, Once your laying near death and realize you didn't care enough to help yourself let alone others it'll be the reason no one shows up to your funeral. Negativity breeds hate, try passing a kind word.

@sooner1944....One negative comment and you lump all Californians together? I believe you just turned yourself into the terribly righteous, judgmental person that the Bible speaks so negatively of. The Lord would be so ashamed of your statement. I will pray for you.

Giving blood is not only good for the community, but it also gets an account opened for you at the San Diego Blood Bank that allows you to get blood products if necessary. If you do not have that account, then you will being paying for each transfusion you receive. It is their way of stimulating donors. This is such an important choice and those of us that have had to use their services (and maybe your blood) are incredibly grateful that people give so willingly.

Ray, I normally enjoy your comments, not always agreeing, but usually seeing some truth in them. I cannot see that this time. I cannot watch you advocate against donating blood when it is such a critical need in our community (especially during the upcoming holidays). I don't care what kind of car a doctor drives. It just doesn't matter to me and has zero effect on my life.

For those of you who did not catch the comment that was deleted prior to my post; someone was asking why they should donate blood if hospitas, etc. are making money off the donations. I simply stated 'to save a life'! It is good charma and I do believe in God. I will continue to donate simply for the fact that someone might live!

A.H.: Your telling me that if you came right off the street as a new patient, you would pay $10.00? I think you are the one who needs an education, no doctor in Fallbrook takes $10.00 for an office visit. I should have expanded my response, I have the "no si habla" insurance, still $10.00 a visit? Sorry dude, I don't get sick.

Ray, I'm sorry but your comment #2 is just silly. You didn't plan well for your own medical insurance so now you won't give blood to help yourself or someone else because some doctors drive Mercedes?? Seriously? I have a $15 co-pay and my doctor is in Fallbrook. I frankly don't care if my doctor plays golf or not as long as he is a good doctor. Donating blood has absolutely nothing to do with the cost of medicine. It has to do with helping others, and just possibly yourself. After all you could get run down by one of those illegal drivers you always talk about.

Pink: I don't get sick, don't take any medications. For someone my age, that's pretty good. I don't give blood because I give it for free, the blood bank sells it to a hospital for $100.00 than the hospital bills you $1000.00, I was want some of the action is all. As for not planning for medical coverage, I look at it this way, I am healthy, if something major happens to me, I always have my friendly doctors Dr. Smith and Dr. Wesson, they make house calls. Maybe some of those "illegals" should do the same instead of being a drain on the system, would not bother me a bit.

Ray, please don't make blatant statements about what you mistakenly believe are blood bank charges. The San Diego blood bank draws the blood, processes it, then stores it. To ask them to do that for free is ludicrous. They have to charge the hospital. The hospital does charge for the blood and pass on their surcharge for handling on to that blood to the patient. This is not a free economy, so that too, is normal. While it does seem cold and insensitive to charge for blood products when a patient is in desperate need of the service, they have no choice. That is why I said, donate blood, open an annual blood bank account and then you will not have to pay for any blood products you receive in the next year. You could do this every year, it is a win-win situation. But in no way, shape or form does a hospital charge $1000. for a pint of blood. That is an exaggeration.

Fallbrookian: "To ask them to do that for free is ludicrous" Well to ask me to give it away for free is also "ludicrous". "But in no way, shape or form does a hospital charge $1000. for a pint of blood" My mother receives a transfusion about every three months. I see her CMS statements, I was "low balling" that figure. Your right though, they don't charge the patient, they charge the insurance company or in my mothers case Medicare.

I gave blood today Ray. I too have a less than common blood type. It doesn't hurt me one bit to give a pint every few weeks to help someone else. That fact is that someone, even YOU, might need it some day. I am happy to give, even for free! It costs money to take care of that blood, for the donation mobiles, for the staff, etc. Yes, it is a business. And businesses take money to run. God gives me my blood for free. Why should I not share it to help someone for free? Actually, I did get paid in cranberry juice and cookies... so maybe it really wasn't 'free'?! I don't want $$$. I want a mom to be happy her child is going to get better because I cared to donate. I want a husband to have his wife live because my blood was needed to save her. I'm looking forward to having the blood mobile back in town. I'll be their first appointment! It is my blessing and joy to donate.

If everyone were as selfish as you are Ray your mom might not be able to get that precious blood that she needs to live. What an irony.

Pink: My mother has different views as for me, when it comes to $$$, call me a Jew.

Lori: Not scared about giving, I just want part of the action and please leave the "fables" angle out of your comment when it comes to me.

Sorry Lori, someone should have warned you that Ray is an athiest, he doesn't understand about giving and receiving and he is afraid to hear about it, he thinks that if he pretends God doesn't exist He will go away. I pity Ray but I remember him in my prayers.

I am curious what the "Child ID Program" is. Anyone have an idea? I do not like the sounds of it.

Pink: If your going to advise Lori, please be accurate. I don't care what people believe in, I'm not one of those "no cross" on public lands people, I don't care about what businesses do on the holiday's, I even receive Christmas cards, pays me no nevermind but what I can't stand is when people "push" their beliefs on others. I think religion in the general society should be like don't ask, don't tell, please don't tell. I keep my comments "fable free" rarely do I use a religious phrases unless it's in a "figure of speech" but as you have your right to believe, allow me the right not to believe. Do we understand each other?

thank you.

Ray I have said it all, it is entirely up to you what you choose to believe but as long as I have breath in my body I will tell others about the love of Jesus Christ. If you wish to believe that that is "pushing" my belief on others that is up to you. Some day I will have to give an accounting to God for what I have done and what I have failed to do. I'm saved by faith so I know where I am going but I would hate to have to tell the Lord that "yes I know I should have mentioned you to people like Ray but I didn't want to appear to push my beliefs on to them so I was silent". So yes Ray, we completely understand each other.
