Issue 30, Volume 14.

A 44-year-old woman who was asleep in her home in the 1800 block of Gird Road was awakened Thursday morning, July 22, shortly after 10 a.m. when a prowler attempted to open her bedroom door.

"She was a smart lady, because she had something up against her bedroom door," said Sheriff's Sgt. Ron McCracken.

"She had a door jack against the door so the most it could open was about six inches." The prowler, attempting to force the door open, created noise that woke the woman.

"[The prowler] obviously did not think anyone was in the house, because when he realized someone was inside, he took off running," said McCracken.

After taking an inventory of her belongings, the woman said Advertisement

the only thing missing was a guitar she had purchased while on an overseas trip to Prague.

The woman described the intruder to deputies as a young white male with short sandy-colored hair.

McCracken said there have not been any other burglary incidents of late where residents have been at home at the time of the intrusion.

The number of residential burglaries is neither particularly low or high currently in the Fallbrook command area, McCracken said, but about average for the past few years.

"It is vehicle burglaries that are running high right now," said McCracken. "People need to lock their vehicles and their homes. It's not the 1950s or 60s in Fallbrook any more."

Some more details would be helpful. How did he gain entry? Through a door? Window? Were the windows or doors unlocked? What is the SDSD doing to locate this person?

Racist is such a meaningless word, try selective. Check my response in the blotter.

The thief was lucky she didn't have a shotgun. If I was in a house that I thought was vacant and I discovered someone inside, I'd poop my pants.

I have to be honest with you. If I was in my house and an intruder tried to get into my bedroom....I would have shot them.

To Matt: I agree. Not too many people use a door jack on their bedroom door. But maybe more people will now!

I have 2 different type of locks on my bedroom door, Matt, because I have had prowlers in my yard.

I'm not waiting for a prowler. I am READY for one. I am also armed.

Don't even try it. I have a loaded pistol and I am not frightened to use it.

Well, I sure am glad to see the general consensus is the same here! I, too, would have no problem taking matters into my own hands - hence - blast him with snakeshot, put a .45 in him, or better yet, let my dogs take care of him. I also heard recently that Wasp Spray does a fine job of deterring someone...much better than pepper spray.

And I don't care what color anyone's skin is...this is MY property, MY house, MY car, MY possessions, MY private sanctuary and unless you've been given MY permission to use, borrow or enter - your taking a risk that I will not be responsible for! I think that's clear enough!

Why do people think they can just take and/or do what they want??? and I won't even get started on what I would personally do to criminals of ALL RACES!

Honeslty the comment about "more deputies", more deputies will do nothing. Let some idiot try that at my house, if the German Shepherd doesn't shred him up, the gunshot wound to the head definetly will.
