OCEANSIDE – The California Highway Patrol will be stepping up Motorcycle enforcement throughout North San Diego County. This will be in addition to the regular shift assignments.

"San Diego County is one of the most beautiful places to ride a motorcycle all year round," Captain Deb Schroder, Commander of the Oceanside Area CHP said. "But we need to insure safety is being practiced out there. That’s why we will be putting out extra officers and specifically targeting motorcyclists."

Schroder added, "Let me make this clear, we are not trying to pick on motorcycle riders. We are trying to reduce collisions resulting from unsafe speed, DUI, following too closely, unsafe lane changes and improper turning. It is dangerous enough for riders in Southern California due to the lack of awareness by other motorists but the riders make it worse when they are reckless and have no regard for safety. Ultimately, our goal is to make the highways and by-ways safe for all motorists."

something tells me they will be more than happy to write anyone a ticket regardless of what they are driving.

I will be happy whene I never see another cop on the road, and yes I drive legal it's a principal thing. These guy's think they can do what ever they want pick on people that are doing nothing wrong when there are real criminals out there going undetected, serve and protect is what there supposed to do but they dont serve me and they damn sure dont protect me. Would not hurt my feelings if all police lost there jobs and we went to a pure volunteer patrol run by the citizens for the citizens with no ax to grind accept to really "serve and protect"

I have learned that "native" Californians who state they obey "all" motor vehicle laws usually are liars. In California, directional signals are still optional on new cars as decorative.Blake, I will bet you $100 that If I watched you drive, I could come up with a violation. Common violations by "natives" are:

1. Passing on the right.
2. Failure to signal.
3. Failure to stop.
4. Illegal lane change.
5. Driving without shoes.
6. Speeding
7. Failure to yield.

Etc, Etc, Etc......

Include all the distractions like texting, talking on the phone and just being a "Californian" you wonder why California is 43 out of 50 in the worst drivers. Don't blame the Asians, blame the "natives".
