Translate this page Re: ‘Shame on those that discredit Granite’ [Letter, Village News, 7/15/10]Thursday, July 29th, 2010 Issue 30, Volume 14.
Since then, Camp Pendleton, San Diego County, Fallbrook Land Conservancy, FPUD and many others have collectively sacrificed much to protect the SMR corridor from the hands of developers. Now, a powerful company wants to create the largest open pit mine ever known to our area in the most pristine part of that habitat. Last week, Sten Thordarson wrote that he and his wife Bev were amazed by the "tone of the anti-quarry folks." Actions speak louder than words, however, and there’s every indication Sten and Bev are wonderful people. I believe Advertisement The corridor is not a bronze sculpture but it is the communities’ most environmentally valuable treasure. Countless have given of their time. Many have donated their land. Come enjoy the hiking trails, horseback riding and biological treasures to see why we care so much. Please don’t let them steal it from us. Please don’t let them destroy what so many have worked so hard to protect.
