Issue 11, Volume 14.

FALLBROOK – A Bay Area favorite, the San Francisco Chamber Orchestra under Music Director Ben Simon, makes a return engagement to Fallbrook on Sunday, March 28, with a program titled "Mandolin Magic." The ensemble brings a fresh and dynamic approach to its music making, and guest soloist Avi Avital will delight the audience with an intense display of the unbounded variety of his mandolin.

The dynamic musical program features Bach’s Concerto for Mandolin (arr. for mandolin), plus Beethoven’s "Andante con Variazioni" for Mandolin and Strings, Corelli’s "Concerto Grosso" in F Major and Osvaldo Golijov’s Last Round - a surprising mix of passionate tango and classical music.

Currently based in Pavia, Italy, Israeli mandolin player Avi Avital was recently awarded the precious Advertisement
