With joyful and thankful hearts Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church installed Rev. Douglas Francik as their new pastor on Sunday afternoon, Jan. 25.

Rev. Doctor Lloyd Strelow presided over the festive Worship Service of Installation.

The church was awash in the jubilant colors of red and white as many pastors of the surrounding areas processed down the aisle to share in the blessings this congregation celebrated.

Clothed in their white robes and red stoles, they surrounded Pastor Doug with their support. Laying their hands upon him they each gave him a passage from God’s Holy Word to guide and encourage him in his ministry here in Anza.

The service of celebration and worship was followed by a reception in the parish hall.

Pastor Doug and his lovely wife Earlene come to the community from Escondido. Pastor Doug said he felt called into the ministry in 1997 after attending the Great Commission Convocation in St. Louis, MO.

He is thankful to the Lord for his family’s ministry as well. His wife teaches at Grace Lutheran School in Escondido, son Chris is also a Lutheran school teacher and son Brian is serving as a Lutheran pastor in Deshler, NE.

to this congregation and to all he meets.

It is an exciting time for Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church as we embark on a new chapter of our life together as the people of God.

We were wondering six months ago how and where God would find a pastor for this church – one willing to shepherd a small flock, one that was out of the mainstream of urban life.

Through prayer and trust we were given His answer and now we celebrate.

But not only do we celebrate, we anticipate the great things we believe He has in store for us. Why else would He bring us such a humble servant?

We invite you to come and share as we discover together what He has planned for this church and for each and every one of us through the shepherding of Pastor Doug.

Sunday worship service is at 9 a.m. followed by adult Bible study and children’s Sunday school.

Wednesdays at 10 a.m. we are enriched through women’s and men’s Bible studies. Other activities and ministries are ongoing.

Pastor Doug is in the church office Tuesday through Thursday and can be reached by calling (951) 763-4226.

Shepherd of the Valley is at 56095 Pena Road.
