FALLBROOK — As the young women of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints prepare to make the step into their teenage years, they leave the world of the youngsters behind.

This event, "New Beginnings," is an overview of the program developed especially for them and presented at a wonderful evening with their mothers, fathers and leaders in attendance.

It is a special time when the older girls welcome them into the Young Women Organization of the church.

It happens once each year for each congregation and this year the Fallbrook 2nd Congregation held it on Tuesday, January 21, in the Young Advertisement

The program was conducted by Annie Olson. The opening prayer was by Sarah Engebretsen. The girls sang "Lord I Will Follow Thee" followed by "I Am a Princess." Then the new girls were introduced.

The girls advancing into the Young Woman’s Organization are Diana Cardona, Sarah Engebretson, Mackanzie Fant, Ashlynn Jones and Tori Olson. They were each given a Beehive Necklace in the presentation ceremony. Then, leader Cody Alkema, the Young Woman’s President, explained the Personal Progress and Young Women Program.

Victoria Fant gave a closing prayer. They were served refreshments after the event.

I was glad to be a part of this amazing experience. It is something that i will never forget! Like a life lesson. A life-changing moment, If i could go back in time i would relive it again. i know i will treasure this memory forever. As a young women i strive to live the young women values no matter how hard it may seem at times. People underestimate girl sometimes, but we have a lot to go through to be able to achieve our goals in life. In the end it is always worth it! Knowing you have done well, no need for an audience to tell you. You just get the warm feeling.
