When it comes to expressing taste, class and personality for a home or business, Creative Designs by Cathy can help any resident or business create the desired ambiance.

Cathy Steiger, the owner of Creative Designs by Cathy, has decorated both residential and commercial properties as well as managed projects for business renovation sites since the early 1990s.

Steiger has loved decorating since she was a teenager, when she would decorate for friends and family, and now, as a professional interior designer, is excited to share her talent with others.

As a Realtor, Steiger has experience with developers, builders and home remodeling contractors, so she is able to draw inspiration and ideas from them as well as see what the latest trends are in successfully marketing homes.

With her artistic, unique taste, Steiger has the talent to mix old (existing) and new furniture and create a home "you can be proud of."

As an interior designer, Steiger knows that when a homeowner is preparing to sell their home, it is important to display the best features of the house, so she gives clients tips and ideas to accent the best parts of the home.

"I tell [homeowners] what buyers are looking for, suggest repairs and recommend upgrades to make the house presentable," said Steiger, who believes that good basic procedures like removing old wallpaper, shining the wood on doors and cabinets and replacing appliances add to the value of a home.

If a client is planning to make changes to their home, whether it’s by adding a few accessories, modernizing their home or completely changing the look of it, Steiger feels her "hands-on customer service" brings out the best of a home.

have the home or business décor they have envisioned. To achieve that, she brings samples to them, shops for furniture with the client and brings in photos to truly understand the client’s tastes.

"A lot of people try to put things together themselves but don’t know how," said Steiger, who understands how overwhelming it can be for the average person to design or redesign a home. "If they have ideas in mind, I can make it happen."

An interior designer has to have a lot of patience, Steiger says, as some clients are "very indecisive" and need someone to help make decisions about interior décor. Others just need assistance in putting all the details together for the plan they have in mind.

Steiger says she is usually given the reins for commercial design projects and uses her creativity to create a completely custom look for an office or building.

"A lot of developers like that they can give me direction with the project and budget and that I can take it from there," she said. "I give them a calendar and schedule of all of the deliveries and I follow through with the plans until they are completed."

Steiger’s commercial work includes offices, clubhouses, fitness centers and models for residential projects. Steiger not only assists clients in the Fallbrook area but also in Los Angeles, Riverside and Orange counties, in addition to the balance of San Diego County.

"To be an interior designer is an artistic ability that not everyone has," she said. "You need an eye for color, an eye for design and the ability to be flexible and creative."
