Dave and Diane Fenn, owners of Chattels Earthly Possessions in downtown Fallbrook, are held in high regard for their beautiful silk floral arrangements and fashionable home décor. When walking into Chattels, visitors are immersed in an eclectic collection of decorator items in a setting that is warm and inviting.

The floral arrangements created at Chattels are one-of-a-kind pieces and very artistic in nature.

"Our florals are so unique because our designers are top notch," explained Diane Fenn. "Our designers have done work all over the world."

Chattels’ accessibility to silks is incredible. With so many connections in the industry, their arrangements are very unique and quite lovely.

As far as home décor is concerned, explains Fenn, they shop in different markets. "My husband and I do the buying and we shop in Europe, China and New York," she said. However, when it comes to buying merchandise for Christmas, Fenn said her husband makes most of the selections.

Chattels offers homeowners the opportunity to assist in room redesigning.

"We go through a home, take photographs, talk to the homeowner, and I sketch out things that I think they would like and would look beautiful in their house," explained Fenn. "Of course, we use a lot of florals, greenery and trees."

Fenn and her designers strive to work with what a homeowner already has in their home and intertwine some newness to breathe new life into a room.

"The opportunity to please people is what we enjoy," said Fenn.

Fenn is a great fan of floral arrangements in a home. "It adds softness and color, making a home more inviting."

and botanicals could very well be the answer, she said.

Despite the ongoing interior design trends, Fenn recommends that homeowners feel comfortable with the interior of their home. Following trends may not be the answer for everybody.

"People are more comfortable when they surround themselves with things that they love," she said.

And when do you know that a home décor piece is right for you? For Fenn, the answer is simple: "If you love it, buy it; if you have to think about it, don’t buy it."

Fenn openly admits that she and her husband are lucky to have such a great group of people working at Chattels. Such competence makes the flow of their business run more smoothly. "We have the crème of Fallbrook here at Chattels."

What many visitors adore about Chattels is its ever-changing inventory. They get new items every day, said Fenn.

Every three months, the Chattels crew shifts their store to highlight the new season peeking around the corner. "We change with the seasons."

Speaking of changing with the seasons, in September, Chattels gears up for fall and the holidays. "We are a Christmas Fairyland by October," she said. "Christmas is so much fun here."

Need personalized help decorating your home for the holiday season? The multitalented people at Chattels are quite adept and willing to help. Their lovely creations have the knack of transforming those with the "Bah Humbug" attitude into people ready to embrace the holiday spirit.

No matter the season, Chattels is a local destination for quality décor, artistic floral arrangements and a haven of new ideas.
