When Scott Youngren, owner of Youngren Construction, was a teenager, he was already showing a keen interest in the construction business.

"My dad built a few spec houses when I was in high school, and I worked on them," said Youngren.

Working on his father’s homes sparked an interest in construction with Youngren, so he went on to work with Fallbrook-based companies such as Mark Hayden Construction and Smith Electric.

Youngren’s hands-on experience in various phases of the construction industry – from roofing, drywall, electrical, fire sprinklers to finished carpentry – prepared him well for his own business.

"There is not a trade that I haven’t worked in," said Youngren.

Though he learned a great deal from working with these companies, Youngren still asserts that his father was his mentor. "He built houses and I saw what I liked," he explained. "I wanted to do construction."

In the 15 years that Youngren Construction has been a successful force in the design/build business, the company has earned the distinction of integrity, reliability, talent, customer loyalty and referrals.

"If you have integrity, then quality will follow," said Youngren.

Youngren Construction has demonstrated talent in building new homes and fashioning remodels. "We are typically known for remodeling and our design expertise," Youngren said.

Youngren prides himself on designing a remodel that flows well with the existing structure. Though this may be a challenge for many, Youngren handles this with ease and is thorough in relaying his vision to the client for their input and approval.

According to Youngren, the most popular remodel at this time is the family room. Youngren is noticing a trend, where Advertisement

families are starting to bond together more these days, and having a family room is more important than ever.

"We really try to incorporate the family room with the kitchen, so the whole family functions together," said Youngren.

The remodeling costs for a family room can be reasonable in comparison to a kitchen remodel, he said. A new family room can be a small price to pay for family memories.

Youngren Construction has a dependable team of on-site supervisors, subcontractors and office workers. "We have full-time supervisors on the field who run the jobs, making sure the subcontractors are on-site, the materials are on-site and the products are picked out," he said.

If ever a challenge arises, the full-time supervisor is present to handle the situation in a professional and timely manner. The lines of communication between Youngren Construction and homeowners are always open.

Youngren Construction’s newest branch is North County Window and Door. This new branch specializes in transforming the look of a home based on new window installations. New windows, explained Youngren, can provide energy efficiency, increased security and noise reduction.

Youngren admits that his favorite part of the job is the initial meet and greet of potential clientele.

"You have to get into their head and figure out what they want," said Youngren, smiling. He enjoys deciphering and evaluating the best design and/or project for a homeowner, based on their lifestyle and needs.
