Thursday, July 20th, 2006. Issue 29, Volume 10. Jan Scott: This is to inform you that your letter carrier and your local post office have no say as to what you call "junk mail" being delivered to your mailbox. They take orders from higher up. This "junk mail" is a big source of revenue for the post office. If you and a lot of other patrons complained enough, just maybe something could be done about it. But on the other hand, would you and everyone else be willing to pay $1.39 or more for a 39-cent stamp? Right now you are getting the best and cheapest mail service in the world. What do you think you would have paid for your letters being published in the local paper if it wasn’t for the revenue from the Advertisement Do the same with the "junk mail" you receive as you do with your newspapers after you are through with them: recycle them. Placing a billboard on your front lawn stating, "No junk mail," will not stop your mailperson from delivering it. They are only following orders the same as your local postmistress is. Please be kind to your local mailpersons, as they are doing a wonderful job. I have been retired from the mail service for 11 years after carrying mail for 35 years (over 15 in Fallbrook), so I have a pretty good idea of your frustration. I hope you take this as informational and not confrontational. Have a nice day, remember to smile and don’t let the little things get you down.
